We all thought there was something wrong with this Acer RTX gaming laptop for it to be so cheap. It's not the real deal. Newegg sells and ships it, and the product is brand new. So, no need to worry about refurbished products. This has one thing wrong with it, but that shouldn't deter you from buying it for $1,100.

Acer's Nitro gaming laptops are excellent machines, and this model is particularly nice. This is because you get a fast Ryzen 7735HS central CPU paired with a GeForce 4070 laptop GPU. The first has eight cores and 16 threads with a boost clock speed of 4.75 GHz. Its maximum power consumption is only 54 W.

The RTX-4070 laptop GPU is perfect for 1080p gaming, and depending on the game you're playing and what settings you use, it can handle 1440p games too. Acer Nitro 16 AMD models typically have a GPU power limit of 140 W, but I'm not sure what the limit is for this model. Even if the power limit is only 105 W for example, you can still play the latest games, especially if DLSS upscaling and frame generation are enabled.

The 16-inch IPS screen with a resolution of 2560 x 1500 is the star for me. It's ideal for gaming, media consumption and schoolwork. With a 16:10 ratio and a refresh rate at 144 Hz, it is perfect for content creation, schoolwork and content consumption. This size laptop is perfect for me. 15-inch laptops tend to be too small (and 17-inch laptops can act as a desktop replacement).

The amount of RAM that you get is also perfectly acceptable. While 32 GB of RAM would be nice, we're still a long way from the point where every game will require that much memory. Acer uses dual-channel memory that is reasonably fast, but the RAM speed and channel configuration is not known.

It's a great deal to get all of this at a price that's a cent below $1,100, but if you are wondering what's the real problem with this laptop, don't worry, it's the SSD. It will only take a few big games to fill up a 512 GB SSD. There's nothing worse than having to uninstall and download new games all the time.

There are two simple solutions: either replace the default drive with an external SSD that is fast and large, or stick all of your games on it. The Acer Nitro 16 has two USB USB 3.2 Type-C ports which can transfer data at up to 10 Gb/s. If you choose option 2, ensure that the external drive is USB 3.2 Generation 2.

All laptop manufacturers mass produce a variety specifications, and Acer evidently felt that some people would be happy to purchase a Nitro 16, with a great GPU and CPU but a small SSD. This particular combination has probably not sold very well, which is why it is so cheap.

It's okay to use an external SSD to store your Steam library and play games. The other components are excellent and you get a great gaming laptop at this price.
