Tony Hawk eats a magical truth-telling Salad, instantly confirms that he and Activision are cooking something for the first since Vicarious Visions was swallowed.

Activision has made many bad decisions over the years. But none of them hurt me more than the decision to merge Vicarious Visions and Blizzard. This killed plans for future Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater remakes at the stroke of a pencil.

Hawk has dropped hints that the series may not be as dead as you might think. Hawk revealed that he has recently been in contact with Activision during a conversation with Mythical Kitchen, via Kotaku. There's also something cooking.

Hawk said, "I wish I had more to tell you, but I can tell that I've been talking with Activision again. That is incredibly exciting." We're working on a project. This is the first public time I have said that." Unfortunately, that's all he has to say for now. He does, however, think the final product is "something fans will really appreciate."

This is exactly what you would say in this situation. Although it would have been funny if Hawk had said 'I think fans will hate this', we can't really infer from this statement. You've got to think that the remakes of THPS 3, 4 and 5 are likely to be back on the table, now that Activision has been safely ensconced within the Microsoft bosom. Fans would love that.

Those games were planned until the release date for the THPS 1+2 remake, September 2020. If I were a large game company looking to revive a series, I would probably dust off the plans I already have rather than start a new thing.

That's all speculation from me. We won't be able to know for sure until Activision tells us or Hawk comes up with another truth-compelling dish. I'm rapt, and ready to learn more.
