'UFO 50 took over my life' - A fan built a playable LX and plans to sell blueprints for parts on Etsy

UFO 50 is an excellent game. According to our UFO review, this game is great. One dedicated fan felt that admiring the game from afar was not enough. I admire those who built a PC just for the game.

LukeTheMaker, a Twitter user with the aptly named username LukeTheMaker, shared the original concept of a mockup for the LX computer that was found in the fictional UFO 50 world earlier this month. In it, the person shared that "UFO50 has taken over my entire life". Luke then spent weeks building it.

They have a fully-playable build now, just a few weeks later. The retro design of the UFO 50 computer is enhanced by its blocky build and the use of grey, black and red in angular patterns. You can see the original in the game's launch trailer, but it looks like a faithful reproduction from the videos shown.

UFO 50, a videogame made up of 50 arcade style titles, was created by Mossmouth, Moppin, and FourbitFriday. It's a celebration for retro games, and is meant to evoke the feeling of playing in an arcade or on one of those dodgy plug-and-play machines that you bought as a child.

The version Luke built is a shell you can wrap around a PC. It has inputs for an NES controller on the front and a selector button on the shell. The machine makes a little sound when you plug in the controller.

There's an adapter that lets you connect a USB controller. It's a beautiful interpretation of the arcade machine from the game, and the files for 3D printing it yourself will "likely" be available next week on Luke's Etsy.

If you're going play UFO 50 in style, it's worth it.
