Zen 3 processor (AM4 socket)
If you want to save money, now is the time to purchase one of AMD's Zen 3 CPUs. The release of the AM5 socket took the spotlight. For those of us who can live with DDR4 memory and are happy to upgrade, an AMD Ryzen 7 is a great choice at the current price.
Amazon is currently offering the Ryzen 7 5-700X3D, which usually costs around $250. It's only $197. Combine that with the MSI MAG B550 Tomahawk, now at $110, a RX 7800 XT at $450 and DDR4 memory and you are laughing with all of that money saved.
Want to upgrade your AMD AM4 gaming computer's CPU without spending a fortune on it? This is the processor you should choose. It's cheaper than the 5800X3D, but only a little slower. This is a great gaming CPU. Read our Review). Install a decent air conditioner and you'll have it for years." data-widget-type="deal" data-render-type="editorial">
The RX 6800XT was the best card at this price point. But now, we have deals where the 7800XT is the same price. The 7800 XT is only a tiny bit faster than its predecessor, but it still offers a lot of GPU for the price." data-widget-type="deal" data-render-type="editorial">
If you buy the components during Black Friday sales, you can get this PC for just $810. If you already have an AM4 motherboard with DDR4 RAM, the price is only $647.

You may be wondering why this MSI motherboard is so much cheaper than the Max variant. There's no Wi-Fi onboard, for starters, and... that's about it. It's not as well-suited for overclocking (though it still can), but if that's not important to you, you can buy this one and spend the money saved on a WiFi dongle." data-widget-type="deal" data-render-type="editorial">
It's not flashy RGB, but it's cheap and it doesn't really matter. Low profile, low latency and super fast: the perfect match for any AMD AM4 or older Intel gaming computer." data-widget-type="deal" data-render-type="editorial">
Zen 4 processor (AM5 socket)
It might be better to opt for a current-gen build. Zen 4 is the hottest tech right now, partly because it allows for faster RAM compatibility and also because it means you won't need to upgrade your entire system for a long time.
You'll need DDR5 RAM if you want to move into AM5 territory. DDR4 will not work.
Six cores is more than enough, especially when the Ryzen 5 7600X has so many powerful cores. You only need more cores if you do a lot of content creation, such as video editing and rendering offline." data-widget-type="deal" data-render-type="editorial">
The RX 7900XTs are selling for a lot less than their original MSRP. They may be overshadowed, but they still deliver a lot of performance. The Sapphire is quieter than the average RX 7900XT. We could all do with a bit less noise from our computer.
RX 7900 XT price check: Amazon $659.99| Best Buy $649.99 | Walmart $649.99
" data-widget-type="deal" data-render-type="editorial">Zen 4 AMD Ryzen 7600X costs $187, which isn't much more than the Zen 3 AMD Ryzen 5 7000X. You'll need to pair it up with a slightly stronger GPU and a different motherboard. But $1,152 isn't too bad for a nearly complete setup.
If you already have one of the best GPUs, you can get a current-gen gaming computer for only $527. You'll also be safe in knowing that the AM5 motherboard you buy will last you for at least a decade.
While DDR5-6400 is the best option for AMD CPUs and Intel's Core Ultra 200S and 13th and 14th Generation Core processors, DDR5-6400 will work just fine with Intel's Core Ultra 200S and Core Ultra 200S. It's a small performance increase, so it's not worth paying too much. This Corsair kit has a great price, even though its CAS isn't perfect." data-widget-type="deal" data-render-type="editorial">
Don't forget about cooling your machine. It's unlikely that you'll get a CPU cooler today, so go for something simple but effective. As Nick points out, there's no need to get too fancy when it comes to AMD.
Amazon: $39.90The fact that AMD processors are more efficient and have better TPD, no matter which generation you choose, is a great reason to stick with them. This means that you can use a cooling solution like this one, which is less expensive." data-widget-type="deal" data-render-type="editorial">
