Vampire: the Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 was delayed again. This time, to 'add additional endings to game' and to add some extra polish.

It turns out that the long-running development of Vampire: The Masquerade: Bloodlines 2 will continue for some time. The unlucky RPG had been expected to be released this year, after several delays, being temporarily halted and getting another developer. However The Chinese Room and Paradox decided to push back the release date until 2025.

In a video released today, Paradox's deputy CEO Mattias Lilja and Alex Skidmore, the creative director, gave an update on the development of the game, reassuring prospective players that the game was progressing well, but would require more time to bake.

Skidmore says that "our team at The Chinese Room" will make the best of the time to polish and ensure the quality, while several team members will be prepared earlier, allowing them the opportunity to work on projects we may not have had the time for, but are passionate about. We can now, for example, add more endings to our game. This will allow it to be more personal.

For a game in development hell, adding new content seems like a risky decision. Even more so when we saw what was shown during the extended reveal in January. Maybe the improvements made in the last seven months are enough to justify dedicating a team to expanding the scope. If this is the case, we hope to see more footage of the game being played.

Of course, this isn't the only thing that will be done with the extra time. The studio will use the extra time to polish certain areas and characters, incorporate community feedback and adjust certain areas.

The announcement comes at a turbulent time for publisher Paradox. It follows the indefinite delay of Prison Architect 2, which followed Life By You's cancellation and indefinite delay. The only difference is that Bloodlines 2 will not go radio silent. Instead, the delay comes with a new release date - the first half of 2025.

A post that accompanies the post promises "The Chinese Room will continue to post regular updates, including Dev Diaries and deep dives." "We will not enter a quiet period."

It is never a positive thing to release a game before it is finished, as we saw with Cities Skylines 2. More time for development is generally a positive thing. By next year, it will be a decade since Hardsuit Labs began working with Paradox to develop the sequel. It feels like the enthusiasm is fading with each delay. Bloodlines 2 has a lot of time to live up the expectations of the ravenous fanbase. Crossing fingers and fangs.
