Next week, the water area in Abiotic Factor will include fishing and the obligatory scientist survival.

Next week, one of the best survival adventure games of the year will get a nice update. The stranded scientists from Abiotic Factor will tackle the Crush Depth Update. This update will take them to the depths of Hydroplant Sector. It also gives them something that all true videogames should have: A fishing game.

The Hydroplant Sector features a large dam complex, complete with power plant, and various experiments which can only be done using a large amount of water (if you have played Abiotic you will know that keeping a lot of fresh water available is not easy). The Security Sector will also be included, which is pitch-black on the inside, so I'm certain we'll love it. There's also a portal that leads to a mountaintop facility in the French or Swiss Alps.

Abiotic Factor is an unconventional survival game. It's more of an immersive exploration-driven sim in a fixed environment rather than a sprawling, open world. The director of the project doesn't like most survival games. He told PC Gamer in an interview earlier this year that he was not a fan of survival-type games.

Crush Depth's update will also include a few new toys. The developers teased that you can replace your boring golf cart or forklift with a Jetpack blueprint, and that you can find and salvage a Sport Utility Vehicle. Finally, more trunk space!

There are also many other additions to the game, including a new security officer Warren, a collection of security lasers to trap and destroy attacking enemies, carbon fiber structures to build, scoped weaponry, whatever "moisture transporter" is and some decidedly psychedelic rice to grow and consume if you're courageous enough. The ambient temperature system is also being reworked, so be prepared to bundle up in the new mountainous area.
