A slick combat system and beautiful visuals help blend with an unobtrusive yet uplifting musical score to make this a wonderful little title.

ACE Team’s mastery of visual imagery finds a welcome home in solid Roguelike(like) elements and capable, cancel-heavy Fighting mechanics. Abyss Odyssey is their most impressive all-round title to date.

Abyss Odyssey is a quirky little gaming gem, and as long as its warlock keeps dreaming, it’s worth fighting through the beauty of his visions.

Abyss Odyssey is a pretty interesting adventure, worth trying if you like "mild" roguelike games with focus on the fighting element, but it needed a little tweaking to its gameplay mechanisms in order to qualify as a pure diamond.

If Abyss Odyssey stumbles, it at least does so while attempting a genuinely thrilling, high-wire juggling act of game design rather than simply milking obvious and proven gameplay features. For all its missteps, it remains utterly unique, absolutely gorgeous and delightfully eccentric.

Another strike for ACE Team. This roguelike action games has a deep combat system and a very well designed structure. Community goals and an impressive amount of creatures to play are there to strengthen the replay value.

Visually very attractive, Abyss Odyssey is a good action game with great ideas, but far away from its authentic potential.

ACE Team achieved something different with Abyss Odyssey, mixing platform, fighting and roguelike to create an unique, hardcore experience that will both please and test you.

Abyss Odyssey is a good action game that also offers a great combat system. It has some flaws, like an absence of a story and a short campaign, but it deserves an opportunity.

In a game like this where mastering the mechanics is key, there's a lot to learn early on in Abyss Odyssey and it can feel slightly overwhelming.

Abyss Odyssey is absolutely the sum of its parts. While its platforming and fighter credentials might not hold up individually, their combination alongside the roguelike sensibilities and community co-operation help elevate these lacking mechanics to be something more compelling than they would be alone.

While Abyss Odyssey suffers from a few design choices that ultimately hold it back from greatness, its easily ACE Team’s most playable game to date, which doesn’t come at the sacrifice of the look and feel we’ve come to love with earlier titles.

A fun mix of combat and platform with a unique style.

Abyss Odyssey is a simple and enjoyable game. That is, if you have patience for its learning curve!

GameTrailers July 22, 2014
Abyss Odyssey is the kind of game that initially seems fantastic, but its many issues become increasingly apparent the more time you spend with it. The thought that went into combat prevents the game from falling into mediocrity, but it also never lives up to the potential that’s so obviously there.

The typical style of ACE Studios is also evident in the Abyss Odyssey, but this project consists of a mixture of various genres that turns out to be slightly disappointing, due to a bland fighting system and a structure not sufficiently varied.

Fun, deep and very complete, even though it needs some extra polishing and more variety for a better experience.

Abyss Odyssey has everything it needs to be a great Roguelike, except the most important - a reason to keep coming back. While it lasts, it’s a gorgeous journey with great ideas and atmosphere, and in time, it may evolve into something with more longevity.

The blame is on the poor assortment of weapons and primitive dungeon generation. The next floor is easy to be confused with the previous one, if you do not pay attention to the fine details. Traps often can’t do any harm to the heroes, and add to that the lack of a sane storyline.

Abyss Odyssey is akin to a raid from World of Warcraft that you have to repeat over and over again. Though there is not much incentive to do that.
