In all fairness though Ace Combat: Assault Horizon Legacy is one of the best aerial combat games that I've ever played and the folks over at Namco Bandai delivered another fantastic addition to their critically acclaimed franchise. It has the right amount of action, easy to use and fluid controls and great visuals for a 3DS title. Ace Combat: Assault Horizon Legacy is totally worth the price of admission and a must have if you own a Nintendo 3DS.

To say Ace Combat: Assault Horizon Legacy surprised us would be a huge understatement. This game, originally feared to be a dud, is one of the more impressive 3DS games you'll see. That said, we hope the publisher releases more Ace Combats in the years ahead.

Ace Combat flies onto the 3DS in impressive fashion. Worth checking out for series fans and anyone that likes aerial combat.

Beyond just the graphical limitations, this is a game that feels as if it could not have existed on the DS in a scaled-down form. The speed, the style, and action are all fantastically engrossing. In terms of sheer thrills it's hard to imagine there's much like it on the 3DS.

The combat is rather fast, and skilled pilots will like the new maneuver feature. The overall campaign may be on the short side, but the missions are fast paced and always full of action. The game controls well, and it looks and sounds amazing. The 3-D is a nice touch but not exactly necessary.

Truly impressive just as it is, and it deserves the attention of any Nintendo fans who've either always been curious about this series or just love flying through the sky to blow stuff up.

Legacy is a great addition to the series and the 3DS-library, as it brings the intense dogfights to the handheld. It also uses the 3D-effect to its full advantage and offers variation in the missions. It's a shame it's quite short, though.

Ace Combat: Assault Horizon Legacy is a pretty cool arcade-flight simulation on the 3DS. There is absolutely no game that can challenge Namco's jet-game. The 3D-effect is stunning and the controls are well-planned. It could have been an awesome game, if there were multiplayer modes, a better use of the 3ds features and a bit more content. Nevertheless, on the long run, it's a solid game.

Ace Combat: Assault Horizon Legacy brings a touch of the series' new gameplay elements along with a few of the old, establishing itself as the true Ace Combat début title for Nintendo consoles, making up for 2002's GBA misstep.

With Project Aces' first foray onto the 3DS comes a build that, despite a few engine hiccups, manages to provide more than its fair share of entertainment value, albeit as a sole skycrawler instead of a squadron force.

Ace Combat: Assault Horizon Legacy succeeds primarily because it sticks to the original Ace Combat format without trying to dress the series up as something it's not.

Ace Combat Legacy does a good job of delivering exactly what you would expect it to, some fun portable aerial arcade action.

Frenetic and well tailored to the handheld, but lacks story and features.

Ace Combat: Assault Horizon Legacy may not be a beefy adventure, but because virtually everything that's great about Namco Bandai's long-running series is present here, it's well worth playing.

A good portable version of the Namco-Bandai Saga. Unfortunately, gameplay is strictly arcade and this might discourage many gamers.

A good game for fans of the brand thanks to classic gameplay, but disadvantaged by low longevity, from repetitive missions, the lack of an online mode, and from a 3D effect not essential.

Although isn't the best game of the series, Assault Horizon is an interesting title for 3DS.

It might not be worth $40 for some gamers, but series fans will appreciate it.

Unfortunately, and bafflingly, there is no multiplayer in AHL. It's a huge shame, as the quick-paced, finger-breaking dogfights would have lent themselves well to co-op. Even still, there are plenty of unlockables and challenges to keep gamers in the cockpit. If you're a fan of any Ace Combat entries, you'll find something to love on these horizons.
