Alien Breed 3: Descent is a frantic and entertaining conclusion to the series.

A good end to the trilogy that unfortunately lacks big changes to the first two parts. Alien Breed 3: Descent shows off with polished graphics but offers only a very shortlived experience.

Alien Breed 3: Descent is basically the same game as its prequels: nothing really changed. If you liked parts one and two you'll feel right at home here as well.

It isn't perfect. It gets repetitive. Most of your time is spent in the same environment fighting a few bug types. And spending 20 minutes and not making much progress can induce a controller throw (or two). But the little touches - like noticing a swarm of small bugs scurrying away from a body as your flashlight interrupts their munching - immerse you fully into the experience.

With Descent, Team 17 finishes notably its trilogy of remakes. This is a good arcade game with some interesting new features.

Throw in a few surprise touches--like a flooded compartment and a spacewalk on the ship's hull--and Descent manages to provide the suspense that its predecessors didn't.

The greater focus on third-person sections is also a pleasant diversion (especially when you're outside of the ship) but, realistically, the real problems are the drudgery of constant waypoint-following and the inability to play the campaign mode with a pal.

Mindless shooting is made better with co-op or survival modes.

Alien Breed Descent is definitely a solid title in all the traditional categories. While it may be a bit repetitious at times, it is hard to argue the value as long as you can handle the monotony.

There's a great game waiting to burst out of the chest of this one, not least with the addition of a proper co-op mode, and we sincerely hope that Team17 gives it another shot in the future.

It's atmospheric, lengthy and ultimately enjoyable though it does little to build upon its heritage, either of the 1991 original or the two games preceding it.

Same old same old, then - Alien Breed 3: Descent is not the sequel we were hoping for, dragging the series out rather than building on it. Still, for Alien Breed fanatics, the story will at least provide closure and more of the same.

Looks decent enough and there are a lot of guns, but the weird camera and lack of co-op are a shame.

A solid dual-stick shooter, but it does have a few annoying flaws that keep it from being great. The plot is interesting, but poorly executed. Thankfully the lengthy solo campaign, co-op missions, and Survival Mode make it worth the price of entry.

Alien Breed 3: Descent is a game that disappears between all of the other shooters. The game does almost nothing new compared to the previous titles and doesn't stand out. However, if you can't get enough of shooting up aliens old school style, then Alien Breed 3: Descent is worth your nine bucks.

The eight-angle camera system serves only to confuse players with depressing regularity.
