Alien:Isolation modders trimmed the campaign down to 46 seconds in order to 'appease people who thought that the game was too lengthy'

We at PC Gamer are willing to admit that we admire those who can hold a grudge for more than a decade. It takes a lot to be a hater for a decade or more. I'm not referring to the type of curmudgeon that deals in cheap dunks. I'm not talking about the kind of curmudgeon who deals in cheap dunks.

Alien: Isolation will be remembered as a videogame horror triumph, one that gave the xenomorph a lethal aura that it had lost over the years of sequels and spin-offs. As thrilling as it was to avoid the interstellar apex predator, critics complained that Alien:Isolation, which released in 2014, was too long.

Fraser Brown, who recently finished his decade-long dance against the xenomorph in Alien: Isolation, wrote that the first half of the film was "truly exceptional and terrifying." There's a debate about whether it should have ended around the 10-12 hour mark. Celebrate your victory! But no, it's not over yet."

Filer is on the case. The modder released a mod just in time for Halloween this year to appease Alien:Isolation's critics. Filer's Impossible Campaign brings the story to an end in less than one minute. Previously, a typical Alien Isolation playthrough might have taken 20ish hours. Are you happy?

Filer wrote in the mod description that "this mod substantially reduces Alien: Isolation’s playable duration by introducing Xenomorphs into LV426." "As a consequence of the inevitable deaths, Marlow's crew never discovers Ellen Ripley’s flight recorder and subsequently never arrives on Sevastopol in order to cause the Xenomorph epidemic." The game ends in less than a minute."

Storytelling with efficiency. You love it.

Filer's mod, however witty it may be, is also a showcase of his OpenCAGE toolkit. OpenCage, developed by Filer, is an open-source modding suite for Alien: Isolation. It allows editing of the assets, scripting and more. With these tools, he has been fiddling with Alien Isolation for more than a year. He swapped the xenomorph out for Thomas the Tank Engine, or set it loose on Counter-Strike map.

You're in luck if you missed Alien: Isolation 2014! Steam is currently offering it for $10. It's currently on sale for only $10.
