If you’re ready to put your Angry Birds skills to the test against your friends and everyone else in the world, this is the game for you.

As a sort of very temporary, throwaway experience, Angry Birds Friends will probably entertain for a time, but we doubt it has the legs to cause the App Store charts any serious problems in the long run. Unless you can come to some sort of agreement not to use cash purchases with a close selection of friends, it's hard to see how the global experience will leave anything but a bitter taste in the mouth.

All of this seems like a repeat of features that have been seen before in other games. Rather than innovate, Rovio has taken the path of least resistance and created a competent, if uninspired, social version of Angry Birds.

Angry Birds Friends brings the Facebook favorite to iOS, but while the new angle is interesting, the competitive balance seems muddled.

A shallow and uninspiring multiplayer title, Angry Birds Friends doesn't have the spark that made the series so important in the first place.
