Anomaly Defenders is a good final hurrah for the tower defense series from 11 Bit Studios. It has gorgeous maps, fun and hectic gameplay, and a lot of strategic opportunities via the deployable powers and the complex tech tree. What's more, the difficulty modes that affect the layout of the maps are quite impressive.

A solid tower defence experience that really does raise the bar for the tower defence genre. It might still be the simplest example of strategy gaming out there, but at least this one has merit for long term play.

Even though it's got a pretty traditional gameplay, Anomaly Defenders is able to entertain with a solid and challenging tower defense experience, enriched with great visuals, a sharp level design and a great to explore tech-tree.

Although more traditional than previous games in the series, Anomaly Defenders provides a flexible and entertaining strategy-light experience. It looks great, provides multiple options for players and play styles, and is challenging enough to require forethought and adaptation.

The last chapter of the series is, unpredictably, the most conservative one. And it's a solid Tower Defense: but it's just another Tower Defense.

Not as innovative as previous games from the series, but 24 maps, 8 types of towers, 6 special abilities and 10 variants of enemies are enough to provide a couple of days of fun.

Despite being a deep, generally entertaining, and visually luscious tower defence experience, Anomaly Defenders doesn’t quite rank among the best in its category.

This is, probably, the worse chapter of the series. It has several good ideas but the gameplay is still too basic.

Anomaly Defenders is an example of a good and solid tower defense game. The gameplay works, the maps offer a good amount of variety and the tech-tree is sublime. Because of this, it's a pity that the game doesn't offer a huge amount of troops and enemies, and that the frame-rate is unstable when a lot of human forces start to explode.

Defenders, unlike the previous titles, doesn’t do much to innovate or recreate the genre. Instead 11 Bit Studios decided to play it safe and gave us a basic, traditional tower defense game that is fun but doesn’t really do anything to set itself apart from an already flooded market.

A well crafted tower defense, with nothing particularly innovative gameplay-wise.

Bright, colorful, fun, but too simple.

A piece of solid workmanship and an entertaining tower defense strategy game at the same time which, however, does not bring anything new to the table, and eventually fall into stereotype one. The game may be recommended only to those fans who love its genre.

Earlier Anomaly games proved that a little innovation can go a long way, but you just don't see as much of that approach in action here, which results in an underwhelming and familiar return to the norm.
