Makes me wish more games featured adult-themed language and situations, because in this case, they actually add to the gritty feel and setting we've been delivered.

The graphics are beautiful and along with the sound effects and musical score really immerse you in the game.

What with graphics that are no longer state-of-the-art, no multiplayer component, a less-than-totally compelling story, and combat that is sometimes frustrating, there is a lot missing here.

For a game that looks like it's striving to be Wing Commander under the sea, the designers still have a lot to learn about creating a game with decent cinematic appeal or good story presentation. I don't mind linear single-player gameplay, just as long as the events in between missions are not presented in such a basic and dated form.

Unless you are really hard up for a combat game or a big fan of the original I’d skip this and save your cash for whatever the future holds for this “sleeping” genre.

The problem is that after the initial unique feeling of intrigue you may get by playing a game that takes place entirely underwater, it's just not very fun.

A beautiful game. Much like its predecessor, AquaNox 2 sets a new high water mark (heh, heh) in graphics. High end PC gamers are in for a real treat. It doesn't hurt that the game plays well too. Yet the single player campaign just isn't all that long.

The action is still highly distinctive fun, though, and for those in search of a challenge, Aquanox 2 definitely comes through.

Unless you were a diehard fan of the original, I'd say give this one a pass.

The missions are still brief, the control is still awkward, and in 2003, those great graphics just don't look so great anymore.

There are innumerable superior first-person shooters and a good number of top-quality mission-based combat games - AquaNox 2: Revelation combines elements of both, but it's really not a compelling mixture.

Cheat Code Central April 28, 2024
Realism has its place in games but the realism that the developers chose to highlight in Aquanox 2: Revelation actually impedes the gameplay.

A lobotomized first-person shooter. Invisible walls and glass ceilings abound throughout the briny deep, ensnaring players in a boring series of follow-the-leader and circle-strafing style stages.
