One of the best digital card games ever released, with the caveat that even with so many great selling points, it's also an incredible investment in time and brain power to get to a point of competency.

It is for people who enjoy card games with an incredible set of fair and unique mechanics that reward out-playing your opponent over luck and randomness. And while it may be based on Dota 2, with a lot to love for its fans, knowledge of the Heroes or universe is in no way needed to enjoy Artifact. All you'll need is $20 and an open and creative mind.

Artifact pulls a ton of flavor from Dota 2, but it’s not necessarily a game for Dota 2 players. Artifact is instead a highly cerebral card game of push and pull, with intense resource allocation and randomization management. Artifact is absolutely not for everyone, but it excels at creating a crazy strategy cocktail pulling from every bottle on the shelf. For card game fans, Artifact is not to be missed.

Artifact is a challenging, deep, and surprisingly approachable card game that breaks many of the conventions I’ve come to expect from the genre. That mechanical bliss is complemented by countless Easter eggs and detailed lore, but I am starting to miss a more meaningful progression system to keep me engaged long term. Its physical card game model has ended up being one of the more reasonable around, and the completely level playing field of Draft mode is so fun it’s worth the price of admission even if you don’t want to spend another cent.

Robust tactics and elegant design ensure Artifact’s often sublime strategy isn’t complex. But a lack of long-term goals and a risky monetisation strategy leaves the game’s future feeling uncertain.

Artifact is a marvelous Trading Card Game with deep mechanics and beautiful art style. You might be upset for the businness model, but the gameplay it's an absolute gem.

Building the best decks will cost you, but Artifact is an intricate and rewarding card game.

It would be nice to see some more extensive options for those wanting to play by themselves or in non-competitive settings, but beyond that, Artifact is a great showing.

Once you manage to overcome this impressive rock, however, the game experience becomes satisfying, fascinating and satisfying. Valve, in short, has embarked with knowledge of a difficult road, tortuous and uphill compared to competitors, now we must see if the community will be on his side. Artifact, we repeat, proposes a challenge that is not suitable for everyone.

Innovative mechanics designed by Richard Garfield (Magic: The Gathering), rules that you can grasp after just a couple of minutes, clear interface – Artifact is a great game. It’s a shame that it’s huge esports potential can be squandered, because Valve doesn’t seem to care for it enough to implement progression systems, leagues, rankings or means to comfortably communicate with rivals outside an invitation-only friendly tournament.

Artifact is as hard-core as Dota2 and you might feel exhausted when you finish a single round which usually would last half an hour. The greedy economy system is lacking in long-term reward and it gives players no choice but to spend more and more money. But despite all those flaws, Artifact is also an innovative game which fuses basic MOBA mechanics and TCG rules together, and those elements actually work well. It's still full of potential.

The game offers a great experience with an intense concept. The input mapping is hard to handle at first but offers, with a controller, everything you can do with keyboard and mouse. Sadly, the game suffers from technical issues, especially clipping and framerate capping.

Complex and challenging card game, but with some fundamental flaws and bad monetization system that basically killed the game even before it went out.

Artifact feels like the MOBA of card games, in more ways than one. There's just as much strategy, just as much variety, just as many resources to manage, and it's just as challenging.

CCG fans looking to sink their teeth into some juicy tactical complexity should consider giving Artifact a try.

Artifact is one of the most polished digital card games available. The game’s multi-lane mechanics bring MOBA elements into card game form, providing challenging strategic gameplay. Valve still has a way to go to prove Artifact’s long-term viability though due to its lack of a progression system and ranked modes.

I desperately wanted to enjoy Artifact, but it currently stands as a monument to the flaws of early CCG design. It’s random, it’s expensive, and it does a horrible job of teaching players both basic gameplay and high-level strategy.

Can you separate a game’s design from its business model? In the case of Artifact, that’s a resounding no. Both are broken. In a market of pay-to-play, Artifact is pay-to-pay. Skill matters, but the strongest card is your credit card.

In theory, a brilliant card game for a demanding audience. In reality, a concept heavily damaged by bad balancing and a truly terrible monetization system. It may yet prove to be a success in the future - but right now, this is a game for wealthy masochists only.

There are no reasons why you should buy this game, unless you are the biggest Dota 2 fan in the world.
