Assassin's Creed Chronicles: Russia is in the middle ground between the first and the second episode. The variety of the gameplay is acceptable but the flawed AI and controls are the same from the previous chapters.

Shortcomings that haunt the entire series remain here, but more gameplay choices and a compelling narrative make Assassin’s Creed Chronicles: Russia the strongest of the three Chronicles titles.

While Assassin's Creed Chronicles Russia isn't quite up there with the best adventures in the series, it's still the best release in the trilogy, thanks to its moody settings, its acceptable range of gameplay and its fun storytelling.

The most challenging of the Chronicles series, the most infuriating, but also the most varied and fun if you liked the past iterations. Don’t expect anything revolutionary though, pun intended.

The new mechanics introduced show a lot of potential and could have made the final chapter of the Chronicles trilogy very special. Unfortunately Climax doesn’t trust themselves and throw more in the mix that is needed. Especially the overused and unnecessary trial-and-error I could have done without.

With its last chapter of this spin-off trilogy, Climax ups the ante with more variety and a deeper difficulty level. It's a shame that the lack of polish in the level and game design remains the same, and frustration sometimes emerges. Anyway, visually and complexity wise, it's the best of the three chapters.

Assassin's Creed Chronicles: China follows a similar structure of the previous games, but tries new things that make it fun.

GamesRadar+ February 8, 2016
Though it doesn't stand up to the franchise's grander releases, Assassin's Creed Chronicles: Russia is a fun and thoughtful stealth experience, easily the best to bear the Chronicles name.

The final episode of the Chronicles trilogy emerges with a muffled pop rather than a bang, but presents a satisfying adventure for anyone who enjoyed the last two.

Sadly, Assassin’s Creed Chronicles: Russia fell below the bar that ACC: China set.

Assassin’s Creed Chronicles: Russia ends the trilogy on a higher note, managing to add a few new things and improvements over the last two installments. Unfortunately, it still falls of short of really impressing fans. The exploration is still a bit stiff, the combat is clunky while the timed sections are a pain to get through.

Whilst still being a very similar game to the first two instalments, our visit to Russia is definitely the most interesting of the three.

While I had fun playing Assassin’s Creed Chronicles: Russia, it was let down by its repetitive nature, frustrating controls, and poor AI.

Ubisoft's spin-off trilogy ends with a controversial episode. It keeps the great art style and many of the mechanics from the previous games, but its second half is filled with overly difficult, punishing and frustrating sections, something not every player will have the patience to endure. Its many contents and references to Assassin's Creed lore, however, make it a good buy for fans of the series.

Assassin's Creed Chronicles Russia review completes the 2.D universe trilogy. With an awesome, modern setting there is much to enjoy. On the other hand it may very well be too modern, with lots of sneaking and shooting in favor of sword combat.

LevelUp February 17, 2016
Assassin's Creed Chronicles: Russia has good ideas and a compelling presentation but it punishes the player so much, that it ends up being frustrating and repetitive rather than fun.

With six challenges to do (just like India) and a New Game+ option, Assassin's Creed Chronicles: Russia has plenty to offer for a bite-sized package, but it fails to live up to the bar set by its predecessors. The loud and powerful styles of China and India simply trump the final piece of the pie, which goes out with a muted rebel yell.

Disappoints on multiple levels, from a flat main character to unintuitive insta-fail stealth levels to clumsy combat and platforming. The few times it nails it with diorama-like puzzles and Helix powers only serve to make the rest of this side-scrolling spinoff look even worse by comparison.

Assassin’s Creed Chronicles: Russia is the third and final installment in the Assassin’s Creed 2.5D spin-off series, and it also happens to be the weakest entry yet.

Russia closes the Chronicles trilogy in worst possible way, with a frustrating, broken game.
