Avowed is available on Battle.net. This means that you can purchase it for 1.4M gold in World of Warcraft if you wish.
Avowed will be available on the Battle.net launcher next year. Pre-order Obsidian’s fantasy RPG now on Blizzard’s store, including the premium version that includes five days early access.
This means that you can farm gold in WoW to acquire Avowed. According to a site that tracks the prices of WoW Tokens - a game time voucher that WoW players can purchase for in-game money and convert into $15 of Blizzard dollars - they are selling for around 273,000 gold. Five of them are needed to purchase the $69.99 standard version of Avowed. This costs around 1.4million gold.
Most people don't own that much gold unless they are the type of WoW players who spend their time in old dungeons looking for rare items or playing the auction house. You'll need to be committed to buying that much virtual money, but Avowed isn't out until February 18.
The whole thing was a shock. Activision has been the only non Blizzard game to appear on Battle.net so far. Blizzard, on the other hand, recently began releasing games for the first ever time on Steam. In retrospect, we could have predicted it: Microsoft did not pay $68.7 Billion (roughly 4.6 Billion WoW Tokens), to buy Activision Blizzard, for nothing. They also added the "included in Game Pass" text on Battle.net pages. It could release games from other developers, but it seems to be selective. Avowed is a fantasy role-playing game that fits well with Diablo 4 or WoW. Will we also see Microsoft Flight Simulator?
You can still purchase Avowed via Steam or Game Pass Ultimate and play the game when it is released. It's the most sensible way to buy the game, but also the least adventurous. You never know when the next Halo might appear on Battle.net. Or, you could be kicking yourself because you are broke and didn't become a gold-farming god in WoW.
Avowed will no longer be available on February 18, 2025.
