One of the first great party games of the year, and it may well end up becoming the best. Get some friends together, try out the 30-minute online demo if you're unconvinced, and you'll have a blast whether the term MOBA frightens you or not.

The brilliant thing is how carefully stage-managed this madness is... A bizarre but brilliant online brawler.

Awesomenauts does more than simply adapt a successful formula, it does so with humor and panache. It has taken a genre typically dripping with grim fantasy and turned it playfully on its ear. Even without the delightful presentation, the simple fact that developer Ronimo Games has effectively fused a MOBA with the trappings of a 2D action title is laudable on its own. Give it your money, and it will give you its love. You can probably hang on to your cheese though.

All in all, Awesomenauts is a really fun game. It has a lot of potential to be a big contender in the MOBA genre. The simplicity of the game is nice for newcomers to the genre while the complexity of the loadouts and abilities can satisfy the MOBA veterans.

If you've been curious about MOBAs, you couldn't pick a better place to start than Awesomenauts. The three-on-three battles are easier to get your head around, but there's still a ton of depth in balancing your team and each character's various power-ups and load outs. It's one of the year's early multiplayer highlights. Don't miss it.

Now we come to answer the big question, is Awesomenauts worth the 800 Microsoft Price point, and the answer is yes. Awesomenauts provides a mammoth amount of depth to its character builds, a tremendous amount of intense, fast paced, battles, a pure nostalgic theme which gives it its own unique soul, so ultimately in the end there is no real reason not to pick up this game.

Awesomenauts manages to live up to its name by providing a fun and awesome experience to those who enjoy team-based play. The presentation, from the graphics to the sound, may be lighthearted, but the action is intense as the constant back-and-forth between teams keeps players on their toes.

What Ronimo has accomplished here is impressive, mixing a MOBA with a 2D platformer and then smothering it with humor, and it shouldn't be overlooked.

At a reasonable 800 Microsoft points, Awesomenauts offers a unique and vibrant entry point to the DotA-style game on consoles. With a fun-filled sense of competition and replayability to spare, it's definitely one downloadable multiplayer game worth paying attention to.

Awesomenauts' peculiar mix of fast-paced 2D action and ever-shifting strategy plants it in a strange niche, but it also rewards adventurous players with hours of warfare and entertaining experimentation.

Ronimo has made an ingenious Trojan horse by delivering the structure and systems of a cult PC genre on consoles, wrapped in the glamour of classic console gaming. Rather than alienate the wrong audience, Awesomenauts could – and should – make plenty of converts to its cause.

A clever spin on the MOBA genre that strips away the complications and nerdy presentation to create a fast-paced but deceptively complex action strategy game.

Slow at first, but incredibly rewarding over the long-term. Just make sure you play with real people, not bots.

Hardcore genre fans will probably rather stick to more complex, nuanced games like LoL and SMNC, but Awesomenauts is a great alternative for everybody else. It's not as deep as other titles in the genre, but it's the perfect game to enjoy for a good weekend of gaming.

A fascinating first step in bringing the MOBA genre to console. Not only is it a successful proof of concept, but it's also a tremendously fun and addictive game in its own right.

Fun and frantic, and a great introduction to a typically unfriendly genre.

Awesomenauts adds a nice twist to the moba genre. The two-dimensional platform action, and tactical, insight reliant and team play focused strategy mechanics go hand in hand, surprisingly enough. After Swords & Soldiers another great game by Ronimo Games.

All in all, Awesomenauts is a very good game. Far from being too taxing, it is possibly the most refreshing arcade game for a while, especially on a console
