With a good but poorly executed premise, BATS: Bloodsucker Anti-Terror Squad tries to be frenetic and action-packed, but ends up being frustrating and monotonous. It served very well as a parody of the action squads, but as a game it is mediocre.

BATS: Bloodsucker Anti-Terror Squad is fun. It has great humour, doesn’t take itself too seriously, and has some great homages to several franchises all whilst cracking a joke or two at their expense. Its gameplay is fine, and I think with a little bit of TLC to tighten the controls and fixing of the blood drops, it would turn BATS from a good game to a great one.

B.A.T.S. is a bit of a mixed bag. Its presentation is fantastic, with well-devised sprite work and a strong sense of humor throughout, and when the game does flow at the speed it needs it is an awful lot of fun for its short run time. However, those awkward design choices and more difficult technical issues do hold it back from reaching its full potential.
