There's a lot of good special effects like detailed explosions, missle trails, other giant ships and huge planets you have to fly near and around. And there are some great cutscenes using both the game engine and pre-rendered CGI to help move the storyline along.

Coats a thumb-blistering shooter with an old-school, sci-fi license. There's nothing particularly special here for classic TV fans, but classic shooter fans will find a battle worth fighting.

While Battlestar Galactica is incredibly difficult to master with unclear objectives, lethal enemies and challenging (read: long and unsaveable) missions, the game still manages to hit all the right notes.

Taking the story into the past was a nice direction on the part of the writers, and the story and missions are inventive and flow nicely, but the poor performance of Adama tarnishes the overall presentation.

You can pick up the controller and start a game, without ever being completely lost.

A throwback, basic space-shooter right inline with a game like Starlancer and nails what it set out do. The intent of this licensed product just wasn't very inspired.

It's a great game, with good graphics, immersive storyline and an overall appeal that I can't ignore.

GameSpot June 14, 2024
The combination of the irritatingly tough mission structuring along with the relative simplicity of the combat ultimately makes Battlestar Galactica a bit too basic of an experience for any seasoned space combat fan, and it's too difficult of an experience for casual fans that are just looking for a simple trip down memory lane.

A fun, if slightly flawed, space shooter that expands on the mythos with a decent story. It's not going to win any awards, but should satisfy fans of the show.

There are some extremely difficult missions to complete, but the reward and satisfaction is made even more sweet when accomplished. I loved the feeling of being in a Viper, but some of the views were less than clear.

Despite a solid structure, the key appeal (and focus) of the game's presentation is to the gamer looking to re-immerse themselves again in the mythos surrounding Battlestar Galactica, and without that sense of nostalgia, it becomes a lot harder to forgive some of the game's more glaring flaws.

The audio effects are disappointing but everything else is up to par. Unfortunately, it fails to become really meaningful and memorable, thus making it a good space action title but not one that will be talked about years later.

If the difficultly was a bit more consistent and mission parameters more forgiving, then Battlestar Galactica could have been a massive hit. As-is, the game is sure to please fans of the license, but those looking for something deeper will likely be disappointed.

Simply an above average space shooter. The sketchy mission objectives and the difficulty level will certainly turn off everyone but true diehard Battlestar Galactica fans.

What could have easily been a stroll down memory lane instead turns into a frustrating disaster. The addition of a mid-mission save would have probably edged this game towards sanity, but the lack of it hampers the gameplay to the point where it simply isn't fun.

Decent play mechanics aside, the gameplay doesn't excite.

GMR Magazine June 14, 2024
As a third-person space shooter, Galactica barely holds its own.

Xbox Nation Magazine June 14, 2024
The major malfunction here: busted level design. Many missions suffer from unclear objectives or load you up with tiresome chores - such as seven minutes of formation flight - only to have you repeat these tasks ad nauseam if you foul up.

It's all rather generic which means that you could have put the crew of the Love Boat in this game and nothing would change, except that it might actually be more fun.

Problem is the game is about as friendly as a Cylon; there's no tutorial to ease you into all those moves or the different mission types, and the difficulty spikes at odd moments, making some levels painfully tedious.
