The Black Myth Wukong map is here to make the Journey to the West easier.

Black Myth: Wukong is the latest game to blow Steam out of the water. It has received "Overwhelmingly positive" reviews and a massive number of players. (For the record we also really liked it.)

Just because a game has great features doesn't mean it can't be improved. Modders started monkeying with the monkey game as soon as it was released. One mod quickly rose to the top because it added a map.

The mod, simply called Simple Map, gives you a large map of the entire world. You can open it in fullscreen mode, change the camera, zoom out and in, and move around. You can also use a key to show nearby resources. Your own location will be shown as an icon.

I'll be honest: I haven’t played Black Myth Wukong or watched anyone else play it in a stream. So I can’t say for sure if the game is crying out for a map. The mod has been downloaded over 30,000 times, so I can only say "maybe". To be sure, I asked some of my coworkers who have played it if a map would benefit the game. Here's what the coworkers said.

Wesley Fenlon : "Not having the map has definitely made me wonder if I missed any important side paths. Even in the first level, it's easy to skip one of the bosses you're supposed get (and major powers-ups) if you are in a rush. The environments are beautiful, but they're not very interesting to explore more than once due to the lack of interaction. This has discouraged me from running through them more than once without a map.

Tyler Colp says: "A map is only useful if it helps you track sidequests and secrets to return to, because this game has a bit of a souls-like aspect where NPCs are moving around the world and you need to find them. You don't need a map if you want to navigate through each area, as the paths aren't so confusing and you won't get sidetracked in a cave like you did in Elden Ring. I think a game map would help those who have trouble finding the next boss, but it wouldn't make the game any better.

You're done. If you're wondering why Tyler "Tyler Colp Colp's" nickname is "Tyler Colp", it's because there are two Tylers here at PC Gamer, so we must refer to them by their complete names.
