Borderlands 2 player beats it for over 800 hours without taking a hit, but another player stole the achievement 10 hour earlier
HeyBlasty, a Twitch streamer who also runs the Borderlands 2 challenge, practiced for over 800 hours and nine months to beat Borderlands 2 with no hits. Darksmoke11 was the first player to achieve this feat around 10 hours prior to HeyBlasty.
But there's no competition between them. HeyBlasty was the one who inspired Darksmoke11, and he credited him on the Borderlands 2 Reddit. It doesn't matter who did it first, since they both achieved something that people thought was impossible by using slightly different methods.
HeyBlasty plans to explain how he did this on his YouTube channel in the near future, but you can see him fire the final few bullets at the final boss via X. Darksmoke11 also ran the same run on Twitch. Both players positioned themselves at a safe distance from the area where the beast emerges from the lava, and sniped its health bar.
HeyBlasty, who spent most of his time developing an efficient route through the game to get it, got it after his 112th try. Darksmoke11, who worked off HeyBlasty’s route, got it after his 13th. Each run took more than 20 hours to complete.
As someone who has only played Borderlands 2 for a few short hours and taken more than one hit, I can tell you that their strategies involved hiding behind rocks and using a scoped gun while letting Axton’s turret take care of the rest. HeyBlasty, who posted this on Reddit in more detail, could not tell me what it meant: "I used Axton's Turret, Fastball homing grenades snipers and a combination Lady Fist The Bee shield and Axton's Turret to melt some bosses and enemies." The ideal build would be one that allows you to quickly eliminate bosses and weak enemies using the turret.
Darksmoke11 has split their full run into two streams archives on Twitch. HeyBlasty is also available, but the videos stutter, so you may want to wait until they are posted on YouTube.
