Borderlands players cracked the secret cipher in order to find 'the SHiFT code that we have ever made'
Gearbox didn't reveal too much about Borderlands 4 when they showed concept art at PAX West. As our GamesRadar siblings reported, Gearbox did give away something else--dice that contained a hidden message. The dice cards had a D20 picture and a series of arrows going up and down around it. When Randy Pitchford revealed that they contained a code, internet sleuths got to work.
It didn't even take long for someone else to crack the code. Twitter user @40_BaySt, along with his wife, cracked the code. He explained that it was a binary code. "Up triangles equal 1." "Down triangles are O. There are 29 sequences, and each sequence has 8 digits. Then you convert binary to decimal, and then to ASCII."
Which revealed this: SXFBT-39953-J33TT-3T333-KSHW6. This is a Shift Code that you can redeem for 50 golden keys in each Borderlands game, or 50 skeletons keys in Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands. If you redeem the code in Borderlands 3, then you'll also receive 10 diamond keys. Pitchford stated, "This is our most valuable SHiFT Code, FYI."
Borderlands 4 will be released in 2025. Let's pretend the reveal did not come after the movie was so bad that you could hear the sound of it on Pandora.
