Manages to get a lot of things right, like the story, style, and basic gameplay mechanics, though the game's high amount of difficulty will probably turn off some players. Now that Red Wasp Design has released an update, this is arguably one of the best turn-based strategy titles on the App Store. Fans of horror and turn-based strategy alike, consider this one a must buy.

Not very faithful to Cthulhu table top game traditions, but it is an enjoyable turn based tactical game nevertheless.

I'd love to see a console port and a sequel would probably make me vomit tentacles of joy. There's certainly plenty of untapped material in Lovecraft's shared universe to work with.

We are quite sure that Lovecraft would be pleased with this game. It has some little flaws in the control system, but it's great in all other respects.

If you love strategy RPGs and a good horror story and don't mind dealing with a few bugs then you should check out the universal app, Call of Cthulhu: The Wasted Land for iPhone and iPad.

Those interested into a turn based strategy game with a proper story will still have a great deal of fun with the game, as will those who keeps Lovecraft art on the wall and his writings under the pillow.

After a while, you're just watching numbers get bigger as you take turns flinging pain across the battlefield. The only madness here comes when you run out of resources well into a fight and have to restart from the beginning.

Call of Cthulhu: The Wasted Land is a great concept gone to waste as players are forced to deal with game design concepts that belong to another era.

Call of Cthulhu: The Wasted Land takes a genre that hasn't received much love in recent years and revamps it for modern devices whilst keeping the original gameplay intact. It's such a shame then that the game's few flaws stifle the enjoyment of what could otherwise be a new classic iOS game.

Not really recommended for iPhone, though iPad gamers who can decipher the game's logic may get something out of it.

Red Wasp Design seems to prefer detail to elegance, and that's exactly the wrong call to make on the iPhone. It's also a damn shame in a game with such an obvious affection for its own characters and the Lovecraft mythos.
