Treyarch has slammed the emergency fan service feature that adds Nuketown to Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 maps and spawns points amid complaints about the game's maps.
The developer of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, Treyarch, released a small preview of what players should expect by the end of this week: the return of Nuketown, and the addition of Infected.
Treyarch states that "Launch was just the beginning." "Tomorrow the Infected will be playing." Nuketown will join the party on Friday. LFG." Infected and CoD date back to at least Call of Duty 4 Custom Games, though Activision eventually gave it the official playlist treatment with Ghosts, Advanced Warfare and Infinite Warfare.
Infection, in Call of Duty, begins with a person being infected. They then turn into zombies. The remaining players, who are called survivors, then have to try and survive a wave of infected that is coming their way. The round ends either when all the survivors have died or the timer has run out.
Treyarch is yet to reveal much about Infected, including whether it will work like previous modes. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 2023 kept the mode the same as previous games. It's likely that Black Ops 6 will do the same (though the "infected", in this iteration, may look like actual zombies). It's an exciting mode that can create some chaotic and thrilling moments. For example, one player managed to get 55 kills in 50 seconds by having all the infected race up a chokepoint to their deaths.
Nuketown is a fan favorite for its iconic nuclear test site setting and small size. While Infected will be a great addition to Black Ops 6, it's likely to steal the show this Friday. Nuketown's iconic nuclear test site and small size make it a fan favorite. While it will be great to play it in Black Ops 6 it's evident that players find other launch maps difficult.
Spawn points can be a major problem. Staff writer Morgan Park discovered several issues with Black Ops 6 maps. For example, he found himself spawning near where he had just died, directly in line of sight of the person who killed him, or at the exact same respawn. He also found himself dying seconds after spawning because of a sniper positioned near a map's spawn. The issues are worse on smaller maps.
Other players have also commented on how chaotic the new maps can feel. Qwayze, a user on the BO6 subreddit, wrote: "It appears that no matter what map they are all play the same." "All maps have been designed so that you can shoot someone within two seconds, kill them and they spawn behind.
In that sense, I don't find it too different. CoD's maps are always a source of complaint, but this year's problems seem to be a step above the norm. I'm not certain if adding Nuketown to the game will help ease the frustration, especially since it is known for being so small, that spawn killings are common. However, it may serve as a good distraction for players for a brief time.
