If the idea of exploring an edge-of-your-seat terrifying world sounds good then you definitely can't go wrong with Charon's Staircase.

Charon's Staircase is a game with confused intentions. On the one hand it has a dark story that we discover as we go along, with a great narrative. On the other hand, it falls short in some aspects like causing scares and its outdated graphics, although with interesting puzzles that will make us feel like Sherlock Holmes.

Charon’s Staircase doesn’t exactly redefine the horror genre. It looks a bit rough, and its tried-and-tested gameplay doesn’t break any moulds. But the majority of its puzzles will keep you hooked, its story is interesting, and it absolutely nails creating a tense, horrifying atmosphere. That alone makes this a spooky adventure worth stepping into.

The core idea is good and we are thankful for its approach towards romantic horror, but everything else is really messy, with lots of graphical errors and some ambiguous puzzle designs.
