Summary

In one of the most in-depth expansions in Cities: Skylines history, Industry becomes a larger and more meaningful part of the game with this expansion. Players can customize their industrial areas with supply chains for the four different resource types and unique factories. Well managed industry areas will level up and become more efficient. Aside from production chains, there is a new city service for handling mail and the cargo airport eases import and export of factory goods. There are FIVE new maps, new policies, new city services, new buildings (including resource extractors, manufacturers, warehouses and unique factories) and more.

This exciting addition to an in-depth city-building simulator introduces a level of granularity players have been hoping for. Whether you want to run a bustling mining company or introduce rolling plains and farmlands, this latest addition gives you plenty to look forward to.

The last DLC offers a resource management and manufacturing line system that other games offer as a standalone feature. The new mechanics blend nicely with the existing trouble of organizing an efficient city traffic grid, offering welcome challenge. Along with other minor features all in all Industries is a pleasant addition albeit somewhat pricey.

Industries somehow feels like both a worthwhile and an unnecessary addition to the Cities: Skylines family.

There’s always something that needs improving, and this is where Cities: Skylines has always shined for me personally. Industries provided enough new content for me to sink a good ten hours of playtime into an old city, and I’m expecting to put in at least ten more by the time this review is up.

Running meaningful industries in your city is like playing a game within a game. Suddenly feeling like an entire county builder, it’s safe to say that the unstoppable force of Cities: Skylines just got a whole lot bigger.
