The most complete rally racing game you'll find on the Xbox. This is the Colin McRae Rally game that defines the very essence of the sport and thus making this the Must Have title to own.

The reorganization of the career mode produces a superb effect, the range of cars and courses is wonderfully overwhelming, and the overall feel is one of having just bought a treasure chest of rallying racing. Also, heck, for $29.99? What an unbelievable steal.

One of the best-looking and certainly best-playing rally games ever. You will be astounded by the car models and amaze to the incredibly realistic way they take damage, right down to paint being flicked off.

The graphics are a night-and-day improvement.

The one addition that has really made Colin McRae Rally 2005 a whole lot more fun then before is the Xbox Live support. I have found that all of my games have been lag free and all have been quite competitive.

Though not particularly hard, the gameplay feels realistic, and the differing heights of certain sections of routes, as well as the surface and weather conditions, give the gamer plenty to think about.

Despite the fact that "Colin Mcrae3" was (and still is) a brilliant accomplishment by Codemasters, Colin Mcrae 2005 is even better.

GameBiz May 6, 2024
Has the best true rally experience, with better braking, accelerating, and steering, perfect for serious players than any other game within the genre.

Far above average car handling physics combined with true rally-style online racing allows CMR 05 to dominate last year's game. It's a tough game to beat for thirty bones. Some may complain about the floaty physics.

The tight, intuitive controls, thankfully, help you carve the curves with smooth precision in this year's Rally.

You can really never go wrong with Colin McRae Racing, and now with online gameplay it's even better. Now if we can just find out what actually happened to Colin!

Arguably the best rally game money can buy.

The cars are difficult to control, and the paths of terrain they travel through are not much wider than the car itself. Any mistake made can be the difference between first and last place, as well as how much damage to the car is taken.

Ups the ante--if only a bit--with improved online play, an interesting career mode, and the same solid driving model fans of the series have come to love.

With its greater depth, online play, and the same extraordinary realism, fans will find this release a worthy purchase.

CMR 2005 may not be as visually impressive as the Rallisport titles but it does deliver in terms of gameplay the most playable and fun authentic rally experience of any of the available rally titles.

Armchair Empire May 6, 2024
For more casual players, the simple repair and customization interfaces serve up a crash course in the intricacies of the sport, but many may find the inability to race against computer generated opponents a drawback.

Yes, Colin is king, but when your only real competition turns out to be your previous release, it affects the effort and growth of the series - this is not the next evolutionary step fans had been hanging for.

Game Informer May 6, 2024
Colin once again manages to strap you in tight and take you to the edge in back in one thrilling ride.

Ultimately Colin McRae still remains an infuriating game for the novice rally driver and we really see no reason why this should change. Practice, as ever, brings rewards and when you finally succeed nothing feels as good especially when you take into consideration that the game has always been geared towards a simulation rather than a quick arcade blaster.
