College Hoops 2K7 Critic Reviews

Despite some features that need upgrading, College Hoops 2K7 is still the king of all hoops games, pro or college, on any platform.

The most realistic and enjoyable basketball game on the market.

College is all about learning to be creative, and College Hoops 2K7 opens up a world possibilities both on and off the court.

But at $20 for what is basically last year's quality game on original Xbox or $60 for the irresistible package on the 360 title offers, there's a lot to love on either platform.

If you love college basketball, do yourself a favor and find College Hoops 2K7. 2K Sports has the better game.

I really enjoyed the create-a-chant option and Team Unity adds to the simulation experience by measuring how the team works together. It has the most solid gameplay system I have ever experienced in a basketball game.

There’s just barely enough new stuff to warrant a purchase from those who already took the plunge with 2K Sports’ NBA game. The atmosphere of a true-to-life college basketball game comes right through, both the screen and the speakers, perfectly.

A significant step up for this series. There are still holes that need to be filled such as the Legacy mode results and some on the floor AI gaffes, but on the whole this is the best college hoops game around and it will take a Herculean effort for EA's March Madness to be able to compete with it.

Online play is a blast.

College Hoops 2K7 is easily the best NCAA basketball option out there.

The sound is where 2K really excels, especially with the irresistibly evil Chant Creator. Despite the kung-fu lip synching of Gumbel and Kellogg, there is a lot of great info in the College Hoops Tonight that makes for an immersive Legacy.

Though the game’s depth and detail caters to hardcore hoops fans, game after game, there are few moments that feel inauthentic in College Hoops, which is a difficult point to reach for any sports title.

There's something ludicrously fun about having your home crowd scream "Brown buckets catch stink!" after you nail a three-pointer. We don't know what that really means, and it's probably in very poor taste, but it's funny as hell.

But for fans of college basketball, these faults are drastically outweighed by the deep Legacy mode, solid gameplay, and immersive campus atmosphere College Hoops 2K7 has to offer.

College Hoops 2K7 is a big improvement over last year, though it's still overshadowed by "NBA 2K7."

College Hoops 2K7 is a very good college basketball game, but its value is somewhat lessened by the fact that it follows "College Hoops 2K6" by just eight months.

But for a game that was released months after its NBA brethren, it noticeably falls flat in a couple key areas.

This year, the game's graphical reworking tips off with the implementation of a Face Gen system that churns out countless random players. The effect is massive.

Players seem to fall and lose the ball too often when trying to make a move in the post.
