Game Chronicles April 29, 2024
The opening movies hooks you and the training missions make the game seem innocent enough. Once you start playing however, the true nature of just how difficult this game really is become quickly apparent. This is not a game to be approached by the casual action gamer.

Although it could have been improved even further — the graphics and vaguely cumbersome feel of the movement still need more refinement — as a tactical squad based shooter, this is easily the GameCube’s best.

GameCube Europe April 29, 2024
It takes elements from many great shooters and has bundled them into a real life based situation.

IGN April 29, 2024
A surprisingly fun, intelligent little squad-based shooter that's made all the better on GameCube.

Nintendophiles April 29, 2024
My number one complaint is nothing is that exciting.

It's not like being there, but Desert Storm offers us a glimpse into what modern warfare is like.

GameSpy April 29, 2024
The promise of well-implemented squad tactics is completely undercut by terrible control and routine missions.

You can switch between any soldier in the four-person British SAS or American Delta Force units, firing all manner of weapons at surprisingly well-coordinated Iraqi forces (not civilians), blowing up bridges (not mosques), and rescuing P.O.W.'s (not Jessica Lynch).

GMR Magazine April 29, 2024
Players will find themselves replaying missions again and again because, as in real war, life is cheap and death is all too common.

Eurogamer April 29, 2024
After Red Storm beauties like "Raven Shield" and "Splinter Cell," and even more recent efforts like "Vietcong", Conflict: Desert Storm on the GameCube is a pretty embarrassing release.

Game Informer April 29, 2024
If you want a good wartime shooter, "Medal of Honor: Frontline" is far superior to Desert Storm. Look at that - I just saved you $40.

Nintendo Power April 29, 2024
Frustrating play control and awkward camera movement weaken the game.

GamePro April 29, 2024
If you played "SOCOM" for the chat, however, then you'll probably abandon this game early on.

Electronic Gaming Monthly April 29, 2024
The U.S. Delta Force puts up such a piss-poor fight in this game, playing through it might actually boost the Republican Guard's morale.

NintendoWorldReport April 29, 2024
While it’s not terrible, it approaches a level of bland mediocrity that is all too typical of today’s mass market gaming industry.

GameSpot April 29, 2024
The interface and poor control are bigger enemies than the game's Iraqi soldiers ever are, and in the end, this is a game you can surely live without.

Play Magazine April 29, 2024
If this was simply a run-and-gun action game, Conflict: DS wouldn't survive its mediocre moments, but the presence of units of up to four who require steady management carry the game.

Armchair Empire April 29, 2024
You’ll have to be extremely familiar with the controls to have a hope in hell of finishing the game.

Lacking in virtually every area. The graphics are terrible, the controls are clunky, and the gameplay is uninspired.
