Contre Jour oozes with a dark, silky charm that grabs your attention right after you first launch the game. Before you know it, you'll be 20+ levels deep without any recollection of how much time has passed.

If you're looking for the next gem for smartphones and iPad, it may very well be Contre Jour. This puzzle-game with a poetry twist draws inspirations from Limbo for its visuals, World of Goo for its drops, Portal for its... portals, Cut the Rope for its mechanics combining dexterity and brains. A very nice blend of many different elements that fit together very well.

Contre Jour's amazing presentation communicates to players an immediate and palpable sense of specialness – something meaningful. But its gameplay reveals something considerably more standard. Contre Jour is still a great game – a must-own for iOS puzzle fans.

This game is easily one of the best games on the app store to date, and definitely well worth the asking price.

Contre Jour offers a unique gameworld alongside a particularly attractive atmosphere. Throw in an endearing character and proven play mechanics and you've got a serious competitor to Cut the Rope.

Taking its cue from as many popular iPhone casual games as it can, Contre Jour is polished and perfectly fine to play. It's just not very original or exciting.

Contre Jour manages to successfully ape some of the App Store's most popular mechanics, but it doesn't really know what it wants to do with them.
