PC Game Pass has just added one of the best coop survival games in recent years.

Core Keeper, a co-op survival video game that was released in early access 2022, is a game I played for over 40 hours. I'm now about to play it again for another 40. Or even more! The subterranean sandbox has graduated to version 1.0, bringing a new biome and several new bosses. There are also a few new classes of characters.

Core Keeper is now available on Steam for 20% off.

Core Keeper is a survival game that has the two features I'm looking for. It's dark, dangerous, and filled with monsters, bosses, and procedurally generated environments. But it also has the coziness and comfort of a Stardew Valley-style game, where you can build your own home, farm crops, and invite NPCs over to chill with you.

Core Keeper has added a lot of new content during its early access journey: new biomes, boss monsters and underground oceans. It also added boats and go-carts as well as animal companions and new character classes. You can also explore and build in creative mode without fear of being killed. Core Keeper 1.0 adds a new biome and three new Hydra bosses. You can see them on the trailer above. Here are the full patch notes.

The downside for those who have already delved into Core Keeper early access is that the worlds they built aren't compliant with all of this cool new stuff. According to Pugstorm's developer, these worlds "are not intended to support long-term." If you want to dive back into Core Keeper, you should start from scratch by creating a brand new world.

Pugstorm says that the game will use a new generation of worlds for any new ones created. "We strongly recommend that players create new worlds in order to enjoy the full potential of the game, both during the launch and going forward."

It's a shame, because I loved my little Core Keeper base. I'll have to build it larger and better next time.
