A remake that proves that old games can still be fun even with some minor hiccups due its age. Fun, cheap and beautiful RTS along the lines of Age of Empires.

Cossacks 3 is a good RTS with a lot of addictive features. It's historically correct, the background music is excellent and it simply is an amazing game without adding too many distractions.

Cossacks 3 has two souls: a new engine for an old gameplay. It can be a great experience, but you have to accept his heaviness.

An old game that seems proud of it, with an old school real time strategy gameplay that will appeal to fans of the genre and a high difficulty that makes it a title for seasoned users.

Cossacks 3 is a disappointing remake of the first installment with new graphics and lots of very old bugs.

Cossacks 3 isn't just a remake of an old game, it is an old game all by itself. And proudly so. While long-time supporters of the series will be delighted to see the classic Cossacks gameplay making a return, most strategy fans will find the unfriendly interface and the clunky mechanics quite hard to digest.

In the vast sea of reboots and remakes, Cossacks 3 offers the familiar experience. That, unfortunately, isn't enough by today's strategy standards, especially considering its low production value.

Cossacks 3 is extremely ambitious in its offerings and they mostly look good on paper, but when it comes time to deliver, it collapses under the weight of its own promises.

Cossacks 3 is the comeback of GSC Game World and brings back the player at the time of the old RTS, but the AI has some serious problems.

Anyone with a fondness for classic, old-school strategy games will certainly enjoy the comfort-food vibe of Cossacks 3, at least in the short term. Where things become a little more problematic is with the overall lack of variety in both mission pacing and nation-to-nation unit design, where the small details are there but the big, gameplay-shaping differences aren’t so apparent or effective.

Cossacks 3 has a lot of good ideas but the AI has some serious problems that ruin the experience.

There’s comfort to be found in Cossacks 3. Despite its problems, it manages to replicate what made RTS’ of yore enjoyable with its vast armies and settlement building. Unfortunately, questionable UI choices, a lack of variety and poor AI result in an experience that leaves a lot to be desired.

Childhood fairy-tale might not return, but some popular games may even in their full glory. Unfortunately, also with issues in the game's unpolished code, dysbalanced units balance and half-breed campaign.

A shoddy rehash of a classic RTS whose creators tried their best to put in as little effort as possible.

The new Cossacs game can be pleasant. It has very pretty graphics, atmospheric music and deals with a rarely visited historical period. But all of that is overshadowed by an abysmally stupid AI (even by low RTS standards). Cossacs 3 turned out to be a refreshed mediocre RTS with the same flaws from 16 years ago. Shame.

Turns out GSC Game World was too busy making shooters to keep up with all the advancements in RTS control schemes that were made in last ten years. Perhaps in 2001 it felt fun to micromanage each soldier, but it’s 2016 now, and that amount of micro is welcome only in games like StarCraft 2, where you have no more than a few dozen units at a time. In Cossacks 3, however, battles are of much greater scale, and player should have been provided with adequate tools.

In my opinion only masochists could possibly enjoy this game with its horrible AI, annoying micromanagement, chaotic battles and absurd difficulty level.

Straightforward, simple, but slick and solid. Cossacks is comfort food, but it feels sufficiently of today despite its cheerfully throwback heart. I had a good time, and most of all I realised that I’m more than ready for this once so staid of genres to come back in earnest.
