A charming cast of characters, engaging narrative, and enjoyable puzzles make Crowns and Pawns: Kingdom of Deceit stand side-by-side with some of the best games in the genre.

Crowns and Pawns: Kingdom of Deceit is an adventure that pushes all the right buttons for fans of the genre. It features a beautiful story, well-written dialogues, enough interesting Lithuanian history and the necessary mystery to keep the player's curiosity high until the credits roll. Even with its slightly disappointing ending, this is a game you ought to add to your collection.

The story of Crowns and Pawns: Kingdom of Deceit is interesting and exciting. It’s a classic point&click adventure in a modern look and a modern setting. Funny characters and beautiful locations round off a great adventure game.

Spending about six to eight hours in this version of Lithuania is most certainly a trip worth having, even if it is clear that Tag of Joy is setting things up for a sequel. While the narrative rushes through the endgame in a somewhat haphazard fashion, it does not necessarily undo the great work that has paved the way forward to its conclusion. An intriguing tale of adventure that does not necessarily reinvent the wheel, Crowns and Pawns: Kingdom of Deceit pays homage to its predecessors while creating a modern experience that should appeal to fans, young or old.

Crowns and Pans is a very solid point and click adventure game inspired by the Broken Sword saga. wIt will make us live a great adventure throughout Europe, discovering interesting mysteries from the past. A must play for fans of the genre.

Although ending feels a bit rushed, 9 hours I spent adventuring with Milda was pure joy. Crowns and Pawns perfectly manages to combine classic point and click adventure gameplay with modern look.

Crowns and Pawns Kingdom of Deceit is a great graphic adventure. It has such a classic setting that it is almost tender, but proudly shows its nature.

It’s difficult for me to say this, especially with so many positive elements in the game, but I found Crowns and Pawns: Kingdom of Deceit to be mediocre. It doesn’t do anything inherently wrong, but there is nothing very memorable about it either. My lasting impression is that the game played it too safe and colored too neatly inside the lines. Clearly, a lot of love, effort, and resources went into creating this game. I wanted to adore it, but I have no interest in playing any future games in a hypothetical Crowns and Pawns series. I suppose players looking for a classically-styled point-and-click game will definitely get something out of it, but it’s not a game I would recommend buying unless it’s on sale.

When it's good, Crowns and Pawns: Kingdom of Deceit is really good. This love letter to Broken Sword and Gabriel Knight-style point-and-click adventures looks great, explores a part of world history that has rarely been touched, and offers plenty of great puzzle-solving that will make you feel like a modern Indiana Jones (or Robert Langdon). At its worse it fails to immerse players into its world, or seems keen on annoying players through puzzles that will test one's patience. Thankfully, while Tag of Joy's creation is very rough around the edges, it mostly leans towards the fun side of the scale.

The smaller project mostly gets positive reviews, and in many respects they have to be right: it's not a flop. But at the same time, we don't have the honor of having an adventure that we will remember.
