Slick looking, smooth playing masterpiece... The undisputed king of 3D Playstation fighters on the market today.

While the package may not be quite as complete as that of Tekken 3, the things the game does well it does extremely well.

Not only is the action fast, but the game engine is technically quite proficient on the PS one... Also has its fair share of voluptuous babes that like to, er, bounce.

The Danger Zone and the easy-to-use reversal system combine to make the skirmishes of Dead Or Alive more varied than many current classics, including high flyers like "Soul Blade."

Great graphics and decent sound effects really make this game fun. With all those different modes, reasonable number of characters, 84 different costumes, and hundreds of moves, I don’t know how this game could get boring.

The gratuitous sexism aside, Dead or Alive is a polished product that pushes Tecmo to the front of the fighting game, hot on the heels of Namco for the title.

It's also arguable that by emphasizing the ladies love pillows to the extent they have in this and the two sequels they have undermined their claim that the Dead or Alive series can offer a rewarding fighting experience and not just plenty of virtual bosoms to ogle.

Good looking and fun to play, Dead or Alive maes an impressive debut.

What really drives it home, however, is the unsurpassed realism and detail.

Combining fantastic graphics and above-average gameplay, Dead or Alive is a fun and challenging fighting game well worth picking up.
