Like Resident Evil 5 and Lost Planet 2, this Dead Rising is no mere comfort food. It's skillfully made-to-order for people who are hip to zombie mythology, who don't think of Doom or Daikatana when they hear the name "Romero".

Even after playing for dozens of hours, you'll still find new things in Dead Rising 2. I won't spoil anything, but there's a lot of variety to be found in the game beyond obvious things like the number of objects that can be used as bludgeons. This game is designed for multiple playthroughs, and I'm looking forward to each and every one of them.

Dead Rising 2 won't attract many new fans, but gamers who can put up with the funky leveling-up system are in for a real treat. With hundreds of zombies on screen, all kinds of cool weapons to create and a story that is actually compelling, Capcom has created the sequel Dead Rising fans have been asking for!

Dead Rising was an enjoyable experience, full of the undead, a bit of cheese, and a likeable yet somewhat flat protagonist in Frank West. DR 2 ups the ante to provide similar thrills, but overall feels like a much more fuller game.

Dead Rising 2 is filled with quirks and lingering flaws, but they're easily shrugged off when delivering the business end of an Electric Rake -- that'd be a car battery and rake joined with duct tape -- to an unsuspecting zombie, as the pure joy of creation and destruction alike come together to create an enthralling action experience that's still unlike anything else out there.

Dead Rising 2 willfully endures that same risks as its predecessor and still manages to come out better for it.

Dead Rising 2 is a fantastically fun title, so long as you approach it from the right point of view.

A shotgun barrel of fun. There really is so much to do and so little time to do it. You'll hardly ever get bored of running around torturing zombies with all manners of sadistic, man-made equipment.

Horror, comedy and action. Dead Rising 2 is a balanced game - a funny and compelling "zombie Killer".

There are a mass of improvements over the first. Especially regarding the survivor AI that was extremely poor in the first game. While the survivors aren't exactly intelligent by any means this time around, they are at least capable of following you and pushing other zombies out of the way while you work your way back to the safe house.

More of the same, but more of the terrific same. You'll laugh, scream...and swear. Lots!

This is a development team that listens. Taking the good from the original and cutting or fixing the bad. It still carries all the horror spliced with comedy from the first and creates a world that intrigues, entertains and disgusts in equal measure.

Dead Rising 2 is quite similar to the first game, but the formula still works. A fun, huge, entertaining and compelling game, with many things to do and much to discover. Unfortunately, it lacks the depth of the original one in terms of story, and it doesn't feel as fresh as the first time.

The Dead Rising formula proves to be as addictive as ever, and a new cooperative mode and weapon crafting system are great additions to the franchise.

Dead Rising 2 offers the same game experiences provided by its predecessor, improving the overall quality. A must for all the zombie lovers.

We admit we miss the first Dead Rising's goofier schtick and the initial wow factor of its innovative challenge. But the latter hasn't been toned down for this sequel, and the game remains - even with its flaws - a shuffler lover's undead dream.

For the people who know what to expect, Dead Rising 2 will be a fantastic zombie slaying experience. It's full of humour, satire and atmosphere and as long as you play by its rules it's also full of fun. Those who go in expecting a free-for-all genocidal rampage will be disappointed - at least they will until they realise what they're supposed to do.

A great sequel to a very unique and entertaining series.

Dead Rising 2 is impressive with its carefully crafted plot, new features, and increased scale, making it an interesting option to the rest of the zombie killing games on the market.

There's a lot to see and do in Dead Rising 2, even after the credits roll. Loads of nooks and crannies to explore and strategies to develop. Money well spent!
