Dead Space 3 evolves the winning formula into a title not only befitting of the fantastic series, but also one of the best games of this generation.

Visceral hasn't just avoided screwing up its game with co-op — it has made it feel natural and at home, and has done it without impacting the single-player experience in any negative way. That alone would be enough to make Dead Space 3 an achievement. But the new crafting system and bigger, more open level structure join co-op to make Dead Space 3 one of the best action games in years.

Dead Space 3 capitalizes on everything that made its predecessors great, and expertly executes everything new. It has the psychological scares and claustrophobic environments of the first two games, but proves they aren’t the only ingredients for a tense experience, adding vast expanses that alter both the mood and gameplay.

A definite buy if you're a fan of the Dead Space series and even if you're not. If you are like me and had doubts about the game based on the demo that was released a few weeks prior to its release then just know that the full game is much better than the demo.

Dead Space 3's action filled gameplay offers a great experience for those who enjoy a cooperative adventure, but its suspenseful and intense plot also makes it appropriate for players who would rather face Hell alone.

An incredibly deep and expanding story and much of the Dead Space feel returning, albeit turned down a little, as well as all the new systems and elements will definitely divide fans, but may be more accessible to newcomers, which is always welcomed with such a rich franchise. Even with the familiarity this delivers a monstrous amount of satisfaction.

Despite many premises that could be frightful for the classic fan, Dead Space 3 turns out to be another chapter true to the spirit of the series. Co-op play isn't intrusive and the traditional survival horror structure is safe.

An exciting, shocking and mammoth adventure through the ghostly, unvarnished segments of space – and you do, thankfully, get to spend some more time flying. There aren't many games that can match the elegiac, liberating movements of Isaac Clarke in nullified gravity, or his vengeful, squishy stomps of victory...Huh, maybe I enjoyed more of Dead Space 3 than I thought.

Dead Space 3 isn't necessarily a full blown improvement over Dead Space 2 but it comes pretty damn close. The team have done a great job at keeping the key aspects of the universe mysterious and yet expanding on them considerably to tell a very engaging story of an alien race.

With Nine chapters and an ending chapter to adventure through on your own or with a friend, Dead Space 3 is a worthwhile ride to horror and adventure.

Even ignoring the common complaint that the developers moved away from the scares to a more action driven experience (something I don’t completely agree with), Dead Space 3 is still thrilling, terrifying, intense, and completely worth your time.

Putting the game’s flaws behind, Dead Space 3 is still a fantastic game, the gore and additional cooperative missions house some intriguing effects, and the tension of hallways filled with enemies never fail to keep you coming back for more.

Dead Space 3 offers a huge variety of situations and epic moments, and becomes an amazing roller-coaster ride. Is it less scary? Maybe, but the game has tons of sequences that will keep you on the edge of your seat.

While the buzz surrounding the game brought fear to a lot of the series’ veteran players over the past few months, I’m happy to report that the final product is a near-perfect balance of classic Dead Space and action-oriented gameplay.

Visceral dodged this bullet while taking serious risks that ultimately paid off. The new crafting engine is a triumph, but the cooperative multiplayer and the complete storyline that unfolds inside of it sets the bar for how cooperative play should be done. Balancing the horror between the single player experience and the multiplayer experience without damaging either is impressive.

Even if this episode has turned the series into a action game – even though there's many survival horror fans out there – we must admit it's a very good game. It provides great closure for the trilogy: long, spectacular and relatively different, but keep in mind that terror is not the main theme any longer.

Dead Space 3 is no more Survival than Dead Space 2. The game is therefore capable of maintaining the elevated nervous tension and to involve players in an interesting adventure.

I‘m torn. The objective journalist says: "It’s an eye-/eargasm and thanks to its awesome weapon-crafting it's damn fun. The Fanboy within rants: "This is no Dead Space".

Dead Space 3 remains close to the series, despite the new co-op mode, the bench feature and the new global ammo system. If you loved the previous chapter you can’t miss the epic conclusion.
