This is one game that may even sway you if you aren’t a fan of fighting games, as it’s a great way to introduce anyone into the genre. It’s accessibility and very reasonable budget price makes owning this one a no brainer. It’s a lot of fun and highly recommended.

Anyone who has wanted a new fighting game to play should give it a shot – especially if your PS3 is filled up with them, as you’ll find a lot to enjoy here thanks to its combination of a fairly robust roster and tight gameplay.

DB:FC falls short in being able to compete with the big boys in the anime fighting game scene as an overall package but when viewed strictly from the accessibility and depth of its combat engine, it’s most definitely a contender.

A good mix of manga characters along with some SEGA goodness, but deep down, the game feels shallow as a fighter.

It has some aspects with room for improvement, but it delivers tons of fun and works pretty well as a fighting game. Fans of the franchise will enjoy tons of "fan service" as well.

While decent enough, Dengeki Bunko: Fighting Climax may be too simplistic for most hardcore fighting game fans to enjoy as anything more than an ephemeral lark, but also perhaps still too complex for those that find the genre intimidating.

Overall, Dengeki Bunko feels like a fighting game port from the early 2000’s. It just doesn’t feel like a full package compared to other games in the genre that have come out in the last few years.

Fighting game players who are fans of Dengeki Bunko's work will surely enjoy the title and its bonus content – especially with like-minded friends on hand. However, once these extras have been exhausted and it comes down to the gameplay, a single fact remains: there are many better fighters on the PS3.

If you're a big fan of these light novel characters or the anime they've been in, Dengeki Bunko Fighting Climax might be your jam. If not, this fighter is accessible, but that accessibility makes many characters on the small roster feel the same. A solid effort, but there are better 2D fighters out there.

A decent fighter, and it’s nice that it got an English release. Anime and Arc System Works fans will be at home here, but fighting fans may find it too generic.

Dengeki Bunko: Fighting Climax just isn't giving fighting game fans or anime fans what they want. There's potential, which may be realized in the sequel, but as it stands it's a mashable fighting game with more novelty than anything else.

Sadly there just isn't much more to Dengeki Bunko than this. It is an exceedingly limited, albeit pretty 2D anime fighting game, with very little appeal beyond the fact you can have the little sister from Oreimo beat up the Sword Art characters. While a fun concept, the modern fighting game needs much more than that.
