Dimension Drive is a fantastic addition to the Shoot-em-up genre and the Dimension swapping mechanic is implemented incredibly well into the game, just don't expect an easy ride.

You need to get used to its uniqueness, but it is a good game overall. We recommend it particularly if you want a shoot 'em up with some innovation.

Dimension Drive takes a commonly held problem in vertical shooters on home consoles, and turns it into a fun gameplay mechanic. It takes a fair amount of getting use to, and at times it becomes evident that there is definitely some room for improvement. In general however Dimension Drive offers some fun twists that fans of the genre will absolutely want to try out.

Dimension Drive is a tough-as-nails shoot 'em up with a very cool shift mechanic. If that statement sounds appealing to you then I highly advise giving it a download as you surely won't be disappointed.

Dimension Drive is a breath of fresh air for a genre as exploited as the classic arcade shoot'em up.

It's not been the smoothest of journeys to release for Dimension Drive, and nor will yours be through its initial twelve stage campaign, but it is a polished and engaging shooter that asks more of each player. This is definitely not a 'turn your brain off at the door' kind of bullet hell experience, but it's worthy of the effort. Failure will be frequent, and frustratingly so in the early stages, but it's not cheap and beating a section or level never feels unattainable. There is a specific type of coordination required that will take time to perfect, and for some it might overwhelm, but Dimension Drive is a game that can be as rewarding as it is demanding.

Dimension Drive is a well-rounded lighthearted vertical shooter that plays beautifully around the premise of constantly shifting sides in our Switch. Too bad that when you get used to this particular mechanic and you actually begin to enjoy all the game has to offer, it's over.

Dimension Drive is a demanding, merciless 2D shooter that will force the players to draw from their patience, persistence and concentration in order to succeed. Fans of the genre will be delighted with this punitive game, while newcomers will feel alienated by how abrupt the difficulty curve can be.

Dimension Drive does offer up some compelling ideas to vertical shmups, but the focus seems to be too much on those aspects. The actual shoot ’em up part is merely ok at best.

The concept of Dimension Drive offers a unique style of gameplay that would melt most brains with the frantic on-screen action, particularly as players have to navigate two different set of maps at the same time on the same screen. From the outset, this particular feature will overwhelm many who aren't familiar with shoot 'em ups, yet with dedication and time, Dimension Drive can offer a gratifying experience once the powers and abilities have all been mastered.
