Disgaea Infinite is one of those rare games. It plays like a visual novel, but it will also appeal to fans of the Disgaea RPG series.

If it was a full price PSP game, it really wouldn't be worth the money, but at $20 and the sheer number of endings, it's probably worth it for fans of Disgaea or adventure games in general.

Heading down the interactive novel path isn't exactly what most Disgaea fans had in mind. However, for the love of the characters and the chance to take another journey into the bizarre fun-loving Netherworld, it's worth enduring.

Infinite is all about the story, and for Disgaea diehards, this amounts to a huge helping of fan service.

Limited control and depth, coupled with a high price, retract somewhat from this title. However, this campy visual novel plays directly at Disgaea fans and works the crowd like no other.

Download it if you're a Disgaea fan looking for something to do on a long plane ride (and you've already played the PSP remakes) or a "novel" game fan looking for satisfaction on your PSP. Otherwise, NIS's latest attempt to expand the series is entirely missable.

As it is, this is no more than a briefly amusing spectacle for fans of the series.

Disgaea Infinite is like having a stack of comics with only one that can be read until you figure out the proper order in which the pages need to be flipped.

A visual novel on mobile platform seems like a match made in heaven, but Disgaea Infinite's cumbersome interface and reliance on repetition render it more flawed that fascinating.

Although each playthrough will only take an hour or so, if you want to experience all of the different paths as well as the game's 13 endings, you will need a good six hours or so. Just be prepared for a lot of repetition.

Devoted fans to the Disgaea franchise will feel oddly at home with the game's unpredictable dialogue, overly crazy plot and familiar line-up of characters - many of whom make an appearance in this virtual action novel - but if you're not invested in game's history or its characters, this title is passable at best.

Disgaea Infinite is the funniest visual novel I've played - even funnier than the Ace Attorney series, and is carried by the strength of its characters, dialogue, and voice acting.

The different gameplay style is going to throw Disgaea fans for a bit of a loop. But the humor and story is on point, making this a perfectly legitimate entry in the Disgaea universe.

Although I can genuinely say that I have great affection for the Disgaea characters and I had a blast going through the game once, the drive to unlock every ending evaporated almost immediately. Watching a game made of cut-scenes isn't bad if they make you laugh and bring a smile to your face, but watching the same scenes over and over and over and over and over because you can't figure out how to get to the new ones isn't an appealing proposition.

The only thing infinite about this game is how often it feels like you're running through the same situations and scenarios.
