The Halloween event at Disney Dreamlight Valley is the same as it was last year.

In Disney Dreamlight Valley the annual Trick-or-Treat has started again. I have never been so excited to collect candy buckets. As last year, you can complete a series of tasks in the days leading to and including October 31. While you are completing your Dreamlight Duties around the Plaza you may discover some new foragables.

Three different colors of candy buckets will appear in the plaza from now until Halloween (purples, greens, and oranges). You can use the candy you collect to craft or complete Dreamlight tasks. These candy buckets only spawn a couple of times a day, so it's not a good idea to use your candy to restore energy. You might end up short when you try to complete the event tasks.

You can find the tasks you need to complete before the end of Halloween update under the Dreamlight tab, and in the village section. If you look for a dark purple Jack o'lantern icon you'll know what you're looking at. But if you can't locate them, here is the complete list of spooky tasks and how to finish them:

  • Sugar Rush -- eat a sweet meal (like Candy).
  • Trick or treat -- give 10 villagers candy
  • A 3-Course Thanksgiving Meal! --- eat all 3 colors of candy
  • Villainy wears many masks ---- wear a mask
  • Stockpiling Pumpkins--harvest 100 pumpkins

The Trick or Treating tasks are available in the Dreamlight menu throughout the year, but they can only be completed during the Trick or Treating Event (or are easier to complete). Candy isn't difficult to make, but I prefer to collect it like I would raspberries or apples than to harvest sugarcane then run home to make it myself. Plus, I won't spend any more time with Goofy.

The rewards are worth it too, whether you make your own candy or go foraging. You can choose from a variety of Mickey Mouse and Jack-o'-lantern pumpkins. This means you don't have to pose for all your holiday photos in front the Fairy Godmother house. This is your best chance to get some seasonal decor for your valley, without having to make anything.

Even though I am excited to have some Halloween decorations to decorate my house and to make another Mickey Mouse candy dish, I cannot help but be a bit disappointed that the event is exactly the same as last year. Disney Dreamlight Valley has been updating the game constantly and adding new characters. It's a shame to see the same tasks and rewards being recycled.

It would be nice to have more than just Mickey's pumpkins available for this year's Halloween event. I would love it if themed pumpkins were available in conjunction with the newest characters added to the game as a celebration. I guess I'll settle for Mickey. Next year, we might see something different.
