DreamWorks All-Star Kart Racing is one of the better recent kart racers with its awesome track designs being the star of the show.

DreamWorks All-Star Kart Racing is fun and shows that the developers cared about animation fans. However, it limits itself as just another game of the genre that only copies a successful formula, without the necessary potential to stand out.

DreamWorks All-Star Kart Racing is still a decent racer overall. Much like the studio that inspired it, it’s not going to make you forget the genre’s king, but there’s fun to be found here if you give it a chance.

Dreamworks All-Star Kart Racing is a better kart racer than you’re probably expecting, but its low production values mean it can’t come close to Nintendo’s genre-defining franchise.

If you’re hankering for a new kart racing game, DreamWorks All-Star Kart Racing will do the job. It’s a solid enough game, offering a good selection of unique tracks and some much-loved characters. There’s plenty of single-player content to keep you busy too, and split screen play is always entertaining if you have a couple of friends to hand. But like any karting game, the on-track action is often too frustrating to be fun, and I’m not getting over the criminally bad voice acting any time soon.

DreamWorks All-Star Kart Racing’s intention is clear: to attract the most loyal audience of the animation studio. Unfortunately, its negative points don't invite players to stay for a long season, but the charm that remains makes it perfect to have more than a good time, especially in company.

DreamWorks All-Star Kart Racing provides a classic kart racing experience with a complete and charismatic character roster, featuring some good ideas, though not all well-executed, and visually appealing graphics, but it falls short in handling and physics consistency, struggles to convey information accurately, and while not riddled with technical flaws, it has noticeable imperfections.

Finger Guns November 27, 2023
Dreamworks All-Star Kart Racing is really trying to play with the bigguns but just isn’t doing enough differently to justify why anyone should care, especially if you’re a Switch owner. Name recognition can only get you so far and not even everyone’s favourite giant green ogre can save this one.
