The transition from flying a plane to steering a four-wheeled armored truck to shooting a gun in first-person view is smooth, addicting, and, best of all, keeps the pace of the action consistent enough for you to be involved to the very end.

We've played "Starfighter" and "Ace Combat 4" and they are both excellent titles, but if you want to be engrossed in a battle that looks great and plays like you always wanted a game to play, Dropship is certainly for you.

Stunning visuals, spectacular gameplay, and a realistic plot.

A compelling game which, once you get over the at times steep learning curve, will keep you very happy, as the action is superb.

A peculiar game, a very specialist title more like a true flight-sim then the arcade games we’re used to on consoles, yet the controls have been thought about to ensure its accessibility.

In essence, as military combat games go, Dropship is the jack-of-all-trades, master-of-none kind.

While the game is certainly impressive on a technical level, some elements of its graphical presentation seem somewhat primitive when viewed against current standards.

Much like the plane you pilot, Dropship isn't a very pretty or elegant beast; but if you want some good airborne action, it gets the job done.

Despite my aggravations and frustrations with some of the aspects of the game, there was an addictive quality to Dropship on a Rubik's-Cube level.

Not for little kids, senior citizens or the easily-discouraged, Dropship demands serious commitment and many hours before revealing its true worth. Once it grabs you though, Dropship makes "Ace Combat 4" and "Lethal Skies" come across as trainee rookie simulators.

A rather enjoyable, if not totally innovative, experience.

A great game...But it misses out on the magic four stars because of the sheer difficulty that will undoubtedly throw certain people into spitting fits and hissing rages.

The mission progression helps things gel, but the leaden controls and graphical sterility weigh down an otherwise decent action game.

The occasional high difficulty will alienate most players, though for those who can take the heat, Dropship is a great buy.
