It won't necessarily appeal to everyone, but if you're the target audience, rest assured EDF 2 on the Vita will hit all the right buttons.

You should just walk past Earth Defense Force 2: Invaders from Planet Space if you’re scared of insects or can’t handle technically outdated games. The rest of you should at least try it, I bet you’ll get addicted.

Earth Defense Force 2 is an action-packed game that, even with its own flaws (like repetitive gameplay) it stands out as a very fun and addictive game. Play it in short sessions and/with friends, and your will find that it's a very good addition to the PS Vita library. What's more, it's one of the best pure action games on the system. If you like the genre, you'll enjoy it.

Earth Defense Force 2 may not be a brand new game per say, but has enough original content to keep it feeling fresh alongside the other recent releases in the series. With a lot of replayability, online four-player co-op, and a budget price tag it is easy to recommend to Vita owners looking for some campy over-the-top action in spite of its flaws.

This Vita version of an older title has managed to up the game, surpassing the goofy, B-movie fun found in 2017.

It brings me back to a time of simplicity and rejuvenates the tired soul after so many triple A ‘blockbusters’.

There is just a ton of missions to play, lots of weapon unlocks, and if this is a title that hits it off with the player, they will find hours of content, perfect for those handheld bite sized moments.

Earth Defense Force 2 is a great Vita title, and whether you want something to play for a couple of minutes on a toilet or in-between classes, this is a must have. If you’re looking for a new game that you and your friends can have some fun together in, this is also definitely worth checking out. It’s dumb, silly fun, and even though the lack of a story can kill your motivation to progress sometimes, at the end of the day it’s still way too much fun to just drop into Tokyo and blast away dozens of giant mutant ants from space.

Mindless destruction and lots of fun. Whilst EDF2 doesn’t add much compared to the original releases of the game, it still remains a fun and competent shooter. If you just want a short, fun game that’s easy to play then this is worth a look.

Earth Defense Force 2 is not the best game that we have on PS Vita but undoubtedly has a very good execution on its gameplay elements. We loved that the game comes to west officially for the first time because kill giant insects and other alien invaders is fun and relaxing especially when you are with friends.

It not only is a good take on EDF, but it's a game that works great on PS Vita. If you need some shooting on your handheld, this is a great choice.

Fun gameplay that reminds me why I enjoy playing video games in the first place.

It's a little buggy, and a little repetitive, but if you put the time in you'll find a bombastic game that fits nicely onto the Vita.

It controls well (the Pale Wing being so mobile, it’s a good thing), and while it can be hard sometimes to use a gun to hit the broadside of a barn, watching buildings and alien baddies disappear in a fiery cloud is always good fun.

It may not be pretty, it may not be ground-breaking, but what Earth Defense Force 2 lacks in creativity it makes up in the sheer scale of its ridiculous, addictive and fun B-movie style action.

It's hard to beat blasting aliens on a commute, but its long-term prospects demand a tolerance for repetition that the game's charming awkwardness might not overcome.

While Earth Defense Force 2 offers a lot of repetition over the course of its missions, it’s a fun distraction for fans of bad science fiction that want to indulge in a bit of wanton destruction. While it may not offer depths of narrative or even the real semblance of one, the gameplay more than speaks for itself, and it’s quite easy to see why this series has managed to develop the core fanbase that it has over the years.

Earth Defense Force 2 isn't a great game, it's merely a serviceable third-person shooter where the goal is to kill giant insects. If that sounds at all appealing to you, then you're probably the right audience for this game.

We Got This Covered December 10, 2015
If you just want to blow stuff up, Earth Defense Force 2's mindless action can actually be kind of satisfying, and its hokey B-movie dialogue is consistently funny. Unfortunately, it doesn't have much depth. For a select audience, though, this will hit a sweet spot.

While the original is a cult classic, this version won't carry on that legacy. EDF 2 has a patented premise behind it, but all of the pieces of this puzzle are inhibited by technical issues. It's hard to find the fun.
