I haven't enjoyed a naval simulator this much since "Silent Hunter II." A great title!

The game is immensely playable and re-playable, guaranteeing the player a new experience each time the game is played.

Offers great naval combat for the novice yeoman to the retired navy general. If you enjoy a realistic atmosphere and high energy combat, you owe it to yourself to check it out.

Easy to learn and a challenge to play, Enigma: Rising Tide is one game naval enthusiasts and non-simulation fans won't want to miss.

Realism and playability are nicely balanced in this naval warfare simulation featuring dozens of playable U-boats and surface combatants. Do not let its storyline based on alternative history scare you away.

Ambitious, consistently entertaining and engaging.

Gliding across the sea watching numerous other ships and submarines firing at each other with planes flying overhead is great, and adds to the tension and representation of World War II.

Some deliciously well-rendered visuals have been used to re-create each of the 16 warships and submarines you control, and the ocean effects - which range from gentle swells to full-blown gales - are so convincing that you may find yourself reaching for Dramamine.

It's hard not to enjoy Enigma. Streamlined but not dumbed down, the game captures the exciting feel of WWII naval combat even if it ignores many of the details.

In my opinion what could make this good game into a fantastic game would have been the use of voiceovers. If I could hear "in coming torpedoes" then I could yell out "Hard to starboard ahead flank" That would have even been more realistic.

Gameplay lurches between the exultation of easy victory and the frustration of arbitrary defeat after hours of effort. Enigma: Rising Tide's slowness of movement and action only throws its pleasures and miseries into sharp relief.

The best of its genre, which isn't saying a lot to be honest, but it will definitely appeal if this is the kind of thing you enjoy. Unfortunately, Enigma's niche appeal doesn't make it a particularly attractive proposition to anyone else.

For now this feels like a course at the naval academy while you wait to get out to sea.
