Although similar in content and technical level compared to the previous chapter, F1 2014 is a very different title in terms of gameplay, thanks to the new cars with turbo-electric engine. Solid and rich, it is a good product in waiting of the first Next-Gen Formula One.

F1 2014 is old wine in new bottles.

F1 2014 could be almost a perfect game with a much higher rating if it were not for two things. Firstly, as with any serious simulator, F1 2014 is designed for high-end PCs with the decent wheel and analog pedals that allow precise acceleration and braking. When you try to play on the console or with a gamepad, you’ll be severely disappointed: the game even on the Very Hard setting will became much easier. The second major drawback is the lack of full replays.

F1 2014 offers a very strong AI and a great MyCareer-mode, plus marvelous visuals on the last-gen. Unfortunately it does not compare to next-gen games and the arcade racing seems a bit off for a F1-game.

Even without having any headline stealing innovations, F1 2014 is still a finely tuned, expertly crafted testament to the sport, and great way to experience the trials and tribulations of meandering a stylish, super powered car around a circuit for an hour or so – heck, I can even be the cause of those crashes I so desired.

It's not a revolution but it's still the best you can get if you want a Formula 1 videogame.

If drivers and tracks of 2014 matter to you, you can go for it. Otherwise just wait until next year, especially on the consoles.

Clearly a transition chapter in the Codemasters series, and unfortunately not an amazingly crafted one. It simulates the recent changes in the sport successfully, but fails when it comes to content and novelty.

F1 2014 is only for real Formula 1 fans. If you're looking for something new, you must wait until next year to get a next-gen F1 game.

PC Gamer October 15, 2014
With its fundamentals unchanged and last year’s foray into classic cars removed, F1 2014 provides very little beyond a perfunctory car and track.

F1 2014 doesn't bring anything new to the table with this year's game. To be honest, it feels like F1 2013, just with a couple of small changes that only hardcore fans would notice. New cars, new circuits and a new difficulty setting are the new features. Graphics look really bad, specially compared to other games in next-gen consoles. Only F1 lovers should give this game a try.

F1 2014 is not a bad game, it was built on solid foundations of its predecessors, but it doesn’t offer anything new and is clearly just an appetizer before the next-gen F1 2015.

F1 2014 feels like something that needs to exist while Codemasters works on rebuilding the foundations for next-gen.

Eurogamer Italy October 15, 2014
F1 2014 can be considered a missed opportunity for Codemasters to create a convincing simulation of the current F1 season. We hope because most of the staff is focused on next-gen version of the game already.

The loss of the Classic Mode, when people were expecting an amplification of it, is a serious and detrimental amputation to the interest of the game.

If you're a huge Formula One fan the updated season content might be enough to sway you on F1 2014. For everyone else, there are better and more involving racing games out there, that are far more worthy of your time.

An unsatisfactory repetition of last year's game, F1 2014 cannot justify its release. The minor gameplay improvements are inadequate, compared to the various deficiencies, such as graphics and sound stagnation, lack of ERS system, absence of a special gaming mode like Champions or Classic mode of 2012 and 2013 respectively, problematic A.I and erratic penalty system.

F1 2014's a strange game, then, and one I can't even accuse of being just a casual reskin. It's a quantifiable step back for the series, saved only by the fact that what's there remains a satisfactory companion piece to this year's season if you're fortunate enough to have a decent steering wheel.

Don't go looking for any new features or updates. This year' incarnation is a product without purpose.

Codemasters should be ashamed for this brazen cash-in, made with the least possible effort.
