Fabledom is a truly unique spin on the city-building genre, giving you not only a fable book makeover but a unique set of fantastical obstacles to overcome. Adorable and colorful but not afraid to be challenging, the game provides plenty of challenge for the city-sim veteran, as well as a charming political and romantic element that helps keep the game fresh.

Fabledom provides hours of entertainment, but it suffers from the usual drawbacks of a city builder, such as the slow pace and drop in difficulty when you reach a stable point. Adding romance was an interesting choice, but I feel that aspect is held back by the design of city builders in general. That being said, I had fun running my city in the background and coming back to see how much progress was made. Given its design and visuals, Fabledom would be an amazing mobile game.

If you can work around the resource supply issue… this is indeed a nice chill little game. It’s not overly deep or taxing… but it’s kind of nice watching your little town grow into a thriving city and the little fairy tale elements here or there just add another bit of charm to it all. It’s not terribly expensive but it’s not a huge game either so it’s about the right point (but if you’re not sure, just wait for a sale). Certainly worth a look if you want a city builder that’s a bit less stressful and has some mild fantasy elements.

Fabledom is a truly remarkable city-builder. The game formulas remain the classic ones, but the fairy-tale context significantly enriches the game structure. relaxing, fun and engaging.

Fabledomis a relaxed city builder that doesn’t introduce revolutionary new mechanics but executes classic ideas very well. I loved spending time zoomed in, looking at my peasants and commoners as they worked and walked. It’s equally fun to find the way to another ruler’s heart by sending truckloads of tulips and running missions. The laid-back nature means the challenge level isn’t very high, even when some of the more annoying random events pop up. And the military aspect feels like a weird fit for an experience where making sure that everyone is happy and getting along is the natural approach. Fabledom’s gameplay and setting work well together and will satisfy any city-builder fan who likes a fantasy setting.

It's hard to deny Fabledom's innate charm. It's an incredibly likable game, easy to understand and simple to get hooked on.

If nothing else, Fabledom fills the need to build a thriving fantasy kingdom without an over reliance on war and conquering. You can lead a cozy life in a peaceful kingdom with minimal (read: no) defenses. You can also choose to attack everything in sight and see where that takes you. I’m sure Sir Payne would appreciate a fellow warmongering monarch in an otherwise peaceful world.

Despite minor blemishes, Fabledom is nothing short of enchanting.

I came away impressed with Fabledom, it offers something unique and new to the city builder genre. Some of the humor was a little dry for my taste, but its impossible to deny this games cutesy charm. It’s a very likeable and chill city builder and aside from the AI still needing some work; despite being in EA for a year, Fabledom is a relaxing and wholly enjoyable game.

Fabledom has deeper mechanics than maybe its storybook look suggests, and the folding-in of fairytale fantasy is winning. While both the fairytale and romance elements are unique twists, the core mechanics are pretty standard. Fans of the genre will feel right at home. I wouldn’t call Fabledom uninspired, but whatever it lacks in ambition it makes up in charm and familiar fun.

A charming building game that would have benefited from more depth and doesn't fully exploit its fairytale theme.

Fabledom doesn’t have the depth to keep you playing forever, nor has it committed to its theme and unique twist hard enough to keep you perpetually enchanted, but it’s a very solid and above all charming city-builder that’s worth checking out before pigs learn to fly.

Fabledom is a city builder in which you can build your own kingdom. The game is able to create a cozy atmosphere and its world has some nice details, but the lack of content can lead the player to lose interest quickly.

Fabledom is one of the more accessible city-building strategies that doesn't overwhelm with micromanagement. Instead, it allows full enjoyment of creating a magical kingdom, occasionally spiced up with familiar fairy-tale characters or events. It could benefit from more original ideas and a faster overall pace, but without the pressure of complex battles, it's a fun and engaging experience.

Fabledom is a relaxed and pretty building experience that is perfect for beginners. However, the game also runs out of steam quite quickly.
