The game is good graphically but can become a little dull if your don’t send out regular attacks on your opponents.

If you enjoy RTS games, prepare to be stunned with an intuitive interface, rich atmosphere, and great gameplay.

Combines a top-notch economic/civic model, attractive graphics, and solid real-time combat to give gamers a slice of Chinese history. And that, like all things Asian, is tres cool.

Sure, FOTD is a blatant "me too" AOE clone with a few new additions and a different cultural angle, but it's also an addictive diversion that'll keep you glued to the PC for hours on end.

Where Fate of the Dragons distinguishes itself is in the undercurrent of town management. This program is much more user friendly, less a micromanager style of play, and quite enjoyable.

The menu systems and historical summaries are pretty well done considering the confusing nature of the beast.

Something could have been done on the developer's part to reach out to this target audience and indeed, to the audience that needs to be introduced to Romance of the Three Kingdoms; something that AOE excels at. If you can get past this threshold, there is a gem underneath, if only a little unpolished.

Ultimately, unless the historical Chinese context interests you, you'll find that Fate of the Dragon is just another real-time strategy game with a few original features, but with nothing really outstanding to recommend it.

The level of detail and control offers many ways to complete a mission and the differences between them are subtle but significant. Unfortunately, this is counterbalanced by the lack of diversity in the missions.

If you're dying for an RTS game set in China, here's one. So there.

An altogether playable, yet mediocre and average game in any sense.

With a weak historical storyline and little in the way of good looking graphics, Fate of the Dragon is another RTS I’d be quick to shelve.

It's a great game in theory. But, in practice, it's the equivalent of the broken Buddha statues you find on the map.

There is a significant difference between the two games—"Age of Empires" is a lot of fun. "Fate of the Dragon" is not.
