Fights in Tight Spaces is a really unique and stylish take on the deck building genre with a level of strategy on offer that will be enough to keep people coming back for a long time. Fights in Tight Spaces is worth your attention.

A fantastic blend of turn based strategy, deck builder and roguelike games, Fights In Tight Spaces belongs among the best these genres has to offer. With a minimalistic art style that underpins a vast tactical depth, FITS is accessible, deeply engrossing and is one of the most slickly designed games I’ve played in 2021. An easy recommendation.

The best thing I can say about Fights in Tight Spaces is that it's so easy to get lost in a run. You can start this game at 7 or 8 p.m. and it'll be midnight before you even know what's what. It takes a special kind of game for me to lay in bed overnight thinking about what my strategy will be the next day, but this one has done that. It's one of the best indie titles this year and will probably go down as one of my favorite roguelikes ever by the time this secret agent sits down to have his martini.

We’re only a week into 2022, but I’m extremely happy to be starting my year off with a game as fun and well put together as Fights in Tight Spaces. Though it occasionally feels like a bit of a grind, the focused gameplay and pleasing visual style make this a great game for players to come back to over and over.

An excellent turn-based strategy that shines in spite of some minor annoyances.

Challenging and smart, Fights in Tight Spaces is a roguelike that completely re-imagines turn-based battles in the best possible way.

If you are a fan of either roguelike’s and deck-builders or just a fan of martial arts in general then I recommend giving this a try. There is nothing sweeter than a flawless victory over multiple opponents.

Fights in Tight Spaces is one of my favourite strategy games of the year. The compelling blend of action movie sensibilities and big-brain strategic overtures means I’m struggling to put it down, and if you’re a fan of Slay The Spire or Monster Train, this is every bit as bruising a strategy game, and easily as replayable.

Fights in Tight Spaces places itself in a unique position in the roguelike-deckbuilder genre. While the influence of games like Slay The Spire is apparent, the combat resolves in a very different way thanks to the introduction of a grid system and other turn-based tactics elements. The presentation is phenomenal and makes for an overall great game that is going to please fans of deckbuilders, tactic games and action movies buffs alike.

Fights in Tight Spaces is an easy recommendation to any kind of gamer. It’s perfect for those new to deck-builders or for genre veterans who crave something with a different flair. Fighting game enthusiasts will enjoy the take on strategic brawls that don’t skimp on the style. As for everyone else? Who can say no to glorious aesthetics and surprisingly cerebral gameplay in a bloody beatdown package? Definitely give Fights in Tight Spaces a shot — it’s a knockout!

Fights in Tight Spaces is a well-crafted card-based tactical turn-based roguelike that will satisfy fans of the genre. It lacks personality, both visually and narratively, but makes up for it with an intriguing and challenging enough combat system.

Fights in Tight Spaces will not be for everyone as it demands patience and expects players to fail early and often. However, it has charm to spare, the fights are satisfyingly visceral, and it’s quick to pick up and play… although difficult to master.

Turn-based battles in Fights in Tight Spaces are great, but not always well balanced. Mainly due to very limited treatment options.

IGN December 3, 2021
Against popular thinking, the slower, methodical pace of Fights in Tight Spaces recreates that feeling of systematically dismantling a room full of goons that all the best action movies present so well, and that video games often struggle to properly simulate. The blend of tactical movement and positioning adds depth where the fairly limited deck synergy lacks it. And while the overarching progression can feel like an arduous grind at times, the compelling pugilistic dance in each isolated skirmish stays rewarding from the very first punch.

Think of it like fast-forwarding through an action movie past all the poorly written dialogue to get to the good bits.

While the additional content is certainly welcomed, there's so much already here that you'd be forgiven assuming the game wasn't in Early Access. The core pillars that prop up its distinct premise are sound enough that playing through Fights in Tight Spaces tickles all the right strategy parts of the brain, providing satisfying victories when you've thought out your options just right. The additional development time afforded by Early Access could help smooth out some of the rough edges, making the future of this tactical deck-builder one to look out for.

The turn based system is clever. But the lack of progress in the roguelike campaign drags the motivation down.

It's a great concept, and it's perfectly enjoyable, but it lacks the excitement and flourishes it needs to really come alive.

Whether it’s kicking a samurai over a balcony railing or diving at a lady with two shotguns so I can kick her in the face, there are tons of satisfying little moments. Fighting is fun, and doing it in a tight space naturally leads to nicely cinematic moments. If you’ve been craving the small-scale, ramped-up chess feel of a title like Into the Breach, Fights in Tight Spaces is a fantastic game that packs plenty of punch.

As negative as I’ve been, I would recommend Fights In Tight Spaces wholeheartedly as it is, because the action at the heart of it is honestly incredible. When everything’s going right, it engages my brain like I’m doing a particularly hard sudoku. The problem is there isn’t much besides that going on. The whole game feels like it should be one of the best things I played this year, but somehow I came away from it saying just “okay.”
