A totalitarian society of bears is only the tip of the iceberg in this throwback brawler.

Fist of Awesome’s campaign does come awfully close to wearing out its welcome, but everything from the pixely graphics to the challenging Arena mode is wonderfully humorous and created with care. It’s an achievement made even more impressive when you realize that the bulk of the game was created by just one person.

Fist of Awesome embodies the word fun; everything about it.

Good controls, nice chiptune music and farcical imagery make Fist of Awesome a wonderful beat 'm up. It hardly bores and you feel the fun the developer had making it with every strike.

It's beautifully put together and full of laughs, but the violence in Fist of Awesome gets old a little too quickly.

What's here at the moment more than justifies the pocket money impulse purchase price, and the few hours it will take you to bash your way through to the end.

Fist of Awesome is worth picking up depending upon your affinity for classic arcade brawlers, and bears.

First of Awesome suffers due to a lack of variety, but it remains an enjoyable experience in small chunks.

I had fun with this, but I could also see how it could get under the skin of some who are growing tired with hipster pixel art games. Case in point: developer I Fight Bears makes “Games For People With Beards.” Granted, that’s a joke. But I can’t tell whether or not there’s a line in Fist of Awesome that divides between satire or pandering.

Presented with wit and style, Fist of Awesome is a good old-fashioned arcade romp with some seriously entertaining sound effects.

Fist of Awesome is an arcade-style brawler in the vein of classics like Double Dragon.

No doubt that Fist of Awesome is hilarious and completely nonsense, but it's also really repetitive and bearing. I mean... boring.
