It may remind you of Burnout, but this is no wannabe or knock-off. It’s a solid racer with lots of destruction, good physics, and awesome online play.

Even the Destruction Derby Arenas and Ragdoll Mini Games are all online playable for you!

FlatOut 2 is a blast to play. Apart from some of the AI troubles, there is really nothing wrong with this game. It is a great title that has variety, character, and great graphics and gameplay to go along with it.

FlatOut 2 may not do much to improve the formula that the original created, but it refines it, deepens it, and adds so much stuff to do that you won't find yourself nearly as tired of things as soon as the first effort. It's not new, no, but it's a blast.

The game features all of the best aspects of all of the best racing games of our youth – all packaged in kick-ass visuals and audio, and with online play to boot. Racing fans rejoice; FlatOut 2 is a total blast, and well worth every penny.

One hell of a fun racing game. Sure, many of its elements feel a tad generic, like the track and character design, but what it really comes down to is the racing itself and Bugbear has done a great job at drawing a line between control and complete chaos.

A very enjoyable racer. It's not a game you'll still be playing in a few years, but in the meantime its destructible racing at its best.

If FlatOut 2 proves anything it's that there's room for more than one type of racer that strongly encourages wreckage at every twist and turn, and it's refreshing to see that despite EA's undeniable might smaller developers are willing to have a go at competing, often showing them a thing or two about game design in the process.

A bigger, slightly better sequel that's more accessible and over-the-top but just as random in terms of its carnage. It'll drive you bonkers if you've no patience.

It's quite honestly an astounding achievement in terms of the implementation of the physics, which should garner the franchise (and BugBear) further success. It's giant step forward from the original title of 2004.

The game is still brilliant and the second coming gives another chance to all those people who wished they'd played the first - but there's something a little too familiar about it, and if you were refreshed by my change in approach, then you might find the lack of change in FlatOut 2 somewhat repetitive.

PSW Magazine UK May 11, 2024
It's not a radical departure from the original game, which is good, but thoughtful additions like hurling your crash-test dummies through the windscreen online and extra emphasis on exploring the many paths on offer in each track mean that FlatOut 2 is the perfect way to continue driving in high-speed wonky lines.

The single-player Career won't take all that long to complete, but with a hugely entertaining multiplayer mode both on and offline, there's a good chance you'll continue playing for a while after.

Don’t be turned off by the difficult controls right away. Once you get used to the steering and can take the corners, FlatOut 2 is an awesome racer with enough destruction and mayhem to last you awhile.

The striking visuals, the hard-driving licensed soundtrack, and the variety of events make for an appealing, fast-paced game that's perfect for venting a little steam.

GameTrailers May 11, 2024
FlatOut 2 is one of the most chaotic racing games ever made. Whether you’re playing on or offline, you’ll be lucky if you can last two minutes on the track without eating twisted metal.

It should appeal to anyone who enjoyed the "Burnout" games, or people who want the closest thing to a 'spiritual' update of "Destruction Derby."

Gaming Illustrated May 11, 2024
The graphics and audio couple together really well for a kick-ass experience, and the gameplay and driving controls are solid.

There’s no getting away from the fact that FlatOut 2 is damned good fun, and will bring you back to the days of Destruction Derby and its ilk. However, as much as we appreciate the tweaks – and that’s really all they are – to the first game, there are still a few too many fundamental flaws which bring out a wail of frustration or a tut as you consider how easily certain annoyances could have been avoided.

Features fun, arcadey action and an impressive amount of destruction - with a slightly irritating interface.
